    Missing Nautique Athlete

Where is Jacinta Carroll on this page?

    https://nautique.com/team/team-all

To say I am disappointed in that page and the conspicuous absence of one of the GOATs is an understatement. It is heartbreaking, really. I'd like to hear Nautique's official explanation before I pull the trigger on my next new boat.

Listen to the latest waterski podcast with Matteo Luzzeri. She got dropped right after being the first woman to jump over 200' on a competitor boat. Seems a little crazy, but the timing is what it is.

I'd like to hear an explanation from Nautique. I have been a loyal Nautique owner for years and always defend the company online. But this is very hard for me to swallow.

I bet you’ll are in the minority when it comes to team athletes having much influence on brand. It seems most companies fear their sales toward the surf crowd. I had a pretty awful experience this past fall and likely will not be purchasing a new Nautique even though I had an OG 210 from 2012-2020. Been dreaming of upgrading for years, just waiting on the wife to complete residency. I was ready to buy an S23, but I moved and the new dealer didn’t know me at all and unfortunately had a really bad experience.

I follow wakeboarding and the past few years the athletes have bounced teams quite a bit. Mike Dowdy was dropped by Red Bull and some of the information I read about that transaction seemed off putting. Anyway, tough to see your favorite athletes switching teams/brands.

It is not that Nautique fired her that bothers me, but the appearance of why Nautique fired her. It sucks for the sport and it sucks for the athletes in general and it sucks for female athletes in particular and it sucks for jumpers.

I didn’t listen to the podcast, but am I picking up on this thread that Nautique possibly cut ties because she set a record behind a competitor’s boat?

It's worth a listen! I don't do podcasts as a norm but this one was worth it. She is a class act and an idol I would want my young daughters to emulate. I gotta say after listening to it the 2 hour program. Part 1 and 2 what I heard her say truly bothers me. She's definately a tell it like it is woman and I respect that. The emotion in her voice after being let go from Nautique cut very deep and then it seems they poured salt into it after that. Give it a listen a judge for yourself.
If you can't do it in, on, or behind a Nautique..... It just ain't worth doing!

Thank you jjackkrash for posting this. I was thinking of doing the same thing. I really would like to hear Nautique’s side of the story. Nautique has always been my favorite brand and I have always respected their values but the way Jacinta describes it really makes me question those values. I am not happy with Nautique at all about this. I had heard the podcast too and I don’t know why Jacinta would stretch the truth, than this is very disturbing to me. Not because a boat brand doesn’t have the right to do what they want but because of the values Nautique preaches. I am all for those values and this goes against them in a big way.

I will go listen to the podcast thanks for the recommendation.

On a side note, my wife just finished residency and we can now afford any brand we want. I have been drooling over G23's for the past 10 years. The dealer I took my 2000 210 to was amazing. He took me out on 3 demos on GS20 and a demo on a G23 from 2016-2020 knowing full well I wasn't able to buy yet. Still gave me pricing and was very up fron what it would cost to get into a Nautique. I am 100% wakeboard and will start to dabble into surfing. I am beginner and have intermediate riders in my crew to the 100" beam and slightly smaller S23 intrigued me. Well I moved south and was starting over at a new dealer. I had my check book in hand and was ready to write a check the day of my S23 demo I liked it that much. He didn't even give me a quote that day. He emailed me a quote and it was SIGNIFICANTLY higher than what I was expecting. I went through many channels in Nautique and felt like we went in circles with the whole territory thing. Anyway, I was very unhappy with my territory dealer. Anyway, that dealer soured me to Nautique and I have a deposit on another brand. Sorry for the rant, but I dreamed of Nautique for years and ended up with one great experience and one terrible experience.

Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to air my feelings that not all of Nautique has been great for me.

TL DR - Moved 7 states away, got a new dealer. Not happy with treatment. Original dealer was amazing .

I don't understand the what Nautique was thinking here. I think it's all about marketing but do consumers really believe that athletes can only perform with one brand of boat? Seems like a disservice to the sport if an athlete is only allowed try their hardest if they're behind their sponsor's boat.

I still remember Harley's perfect 100 that Nautique claimed as an achievement of the G23. I love Nautique boats but the marketing is a bit laughable.

What a podcast. Lots of cool history intertwined in her story. I would really like to see an athlete's contract whether it is skier, jumper, wakeboarder, wakesurfer. With the amount of money these boats cost you would think they could make a decent stipend from the boat companies at least. She was talking about how she would lose money traveling to a competition if she didn't podium. That's nuts. You would think the companies would want their riders there representing and maybe pay travel, room, board. I went to world's last September in Callaway Gardens and there were maybe 50 people on the beach/lawn and a decent amount in the pavilion. It seemed most of the people were family and friends though. It was my first competition as a spectator and it sure didn't look like the wakeboard videos I watch from the 90's and 2000's. I will admit the weather and it was September 16 so kids were probably in school. I think Jacinta hit on the cost of boat ownership and who can afford to get into these sports.
