Base S25 205,400 with a 400 engine. Jump to the 450 (which is the base engine on the G23 and the S25 goes to 216000). G23 with base 450 engine 208400. G25 with 450 engine 226300. I thought the S series was supposed to be a gap between the G and the GS series. When you spec it out its basically a G with a lot less features and a pointy (traditional) bow without very much cost difference ~5%. Really would have liked to go the S route, but the pricing is insane.

The pricing on any new tier 1 sport boat is insane. I honestly don't know how anyone can buy new these days. I couldn't afford my current boat if I had to buy new now. Which reminds me..... I need to up my insurance. Based on the prices I'm seeing on Onlyinboards I'm about $10K light on replacement value.

A new GS24 starts at $178. A new G25 starts at $228. A new S25 starts pretty close to the middle at $205k. Once you option out the S25 it does get expensive but I suspect we’re going to see mostly near-base S models. I also wouldn’t underestimate the 400. If you’re willing to give up some cruising speed you can prop it down to get more than enough push at surf and wakeboard speeds.

An optioned out lower model costing the same or more and a higher model isn’t unusual even when the optioning gets you closer to parity. We were shopping for a RAV4 last year for my wife. After figuring out what options were important to her we ended up in a Lexus NX. The RAV4 just isn’t for people who want leather, climate control, and heated/cooled seats. They’ll do it, but it won’t save you much money over the NX. Similarly, I don’t think the S is for the people who want the things that come standard on a G.

Here is another disappointment with the S-series
Aft Storage is lacking in the S series…. My boards (surf & wake) do not fit in the S-series as they did in a G21. The batteries on the port side, the cooler on the starboard (yes it can be removed) as well as the lower raised storage create issues.

An S23 optioned the same as my 2020 230, which isn't out of control with options, is $65,000 more and that's at 2022 prices.
If something happened to my 230, I have absolutely no idea what I would replace it with. Maybe another 230, maybe a GS, but I hate to say I'd probably start looking at other companies as the value proposition has really started to fall off.
And there was always speculation on this, but where are these buyers coming from? Gazillions have already bought boats (and even if they're repeat buyers they still have to unload their current new boat), and now everyone's brokerage account is down 25% and rates are up 3% if you choose to finance. Mystifying.

mooneywa, To your point about looking elsewhere, I’ve been dreaming of a Nautique for years. My wife finally finished residency and we were in position financially to buy a newer boat. I was thinking used G23 until I saw the S23 released and thought that was the one. I demo’d it and the S21. I had my checkbook at the demo to put down a deposit but the salesman didn’t even talk numbers. I guess he didn’t think I was a serious customer. Anyway, I am going with another brand with heated seats, docking lights, interior lighting, 2 subs, heater, in floor cooler, power tower. And, it’s a 23 foot boat, 2023 model year for $40,000 less sales price. I love Nautique and the S series is cool, but not that cool. Hopefully, I have a good experience in the other boat. Maybe some day I’ll shop Nautique again, but doubtful as our territory dealer really didn’t impress us, to the point my wife said we won’t buy a boat from them.

I tried to buy a 2022 S23 this month, but my dealer wouldn't budge on 11% discount from crazy inflated MSRP. I'm curious what impact the rising interest rates will have on these prices. I explored Supra SL, too. It was about $30k less, but they curiously stuck on the same 11% discount.

The discounts just aren't there like they were a few years ago... I heard the same thing from my dealer a couple of weeks ago. And pricing out a 2023 P23 optioned EXACTLY like my 2021 P23 it was $70k more MSRP and the interest rate would be closer to 6.5-7% whereas currently I think we are at about 3.6% and got an 18%(ish) discount at that time. We won't be trading in this year, it's just nuts.
