    Newbie with questions

Just acquired a 1992 CC Ski Nautique. Kids want to install a tower so teens can try wakeboarding. Is that an ok thing to do on an older Nautique? We have access to a used tower that is simple but seems functional. Any advice on gauges as we don’t have a matched set and I want to order a new set and not break the bank.

Installing a tower is fine. Correct Craft has always been good about fiberglass thickness so you shouldn't have to worry things like glassing in additional backing. But I'd be careful with a used tower. Does it have all of the mounting hardware? Is it the right width for your boat?

As far as gauges, you're probably going to have a hard time finding airguide speedometers so I'd advice you search for what matches best with those unless you plan to upgrade to a GPS speedo.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't put a tower on it just based on aesthetics--it kills the classic lines. If the kids don't currently wakeboard, they can learn to wakeboard without a tower--just have them go from the ski pylon, or even invest in a Fly High pylon. If it becomes something they really like, then you can decide to add a tower or look for a better wakeboarding boat.

      Let's see some pics!

For learning to wakeboard the tower is not needed, there is plenty to learn before needing a bigger wake and the tower…. You could use getting the tower as an incentive for your kids to get good at it. My experience with wakeboarding is the wipe outs can be brutal and end up discouraging people from continuing.
