    You think Nautiques are expensive??

    Check out malibuboats.com

They just updated their website with 2007 stuff and have included msrp on everything. Props to them for putting prices on the webpage but HOLY COW.

VLX special edition msrp is 77k.
v-ride is almost 50k and that is supposed to be their entry level priced down boat.

RE: You think Nautiques are expensive??

Just a few weeks ago I priced an 07 Response LXi with a few options and single axel trailer. The MSRP on the quote was a little over $55k for everything, and the "dealer discount" made the final price $42,280. It is all pretty crazy, but am happy to say I instead pulled the trigger on an 06 SN 206 with 9 hours on the meter. Now the wait until spring is on here in Minnesota ...

Mathews01, what made the difference for you in choosing the 206 over the RLXi?
Did you test drive or ski behind either?

        SGY:

I test drove the 206, but did not test drive the 07 RLXi. I did a lot of research on both, including multiple meetings at the dealership. With the new hull on the RLXi I would have waited to purchase the SN until after test-driving the Malibu, but the new look of the 'bu just did not sit well with me (most notably the vents on the windshield and the gel lines).

I do little skiing and spend most of my time footin, but my wife likes to slalom ski. Both of us do so recreationally only, and with kids planned down the road we focused on the open bow. I have skied and footed behind a Response many times, as my cousin is a current owner of this boat. There is nothing wrong with Malibus in my experience, and based upon what I have learned I am of the impression that CC is in the same category. When we test drove the CC I really liked the boat and felt it will definitely meet our needs and last for years to come.

The final piece was the dealer; here the CC dealer gave me the impression he would go above and beyond to service my needs from day one. And maybe it is because Malibus outsell CC's where I am from (at least that is what I have been told), but I just didn't have that same "personal touch" gut feeling from the 'bu dealer. And when you are comparing apples to apples in these two boats (at least for my purposes I thought each boat would fully meet my needs), a solid dealer relationship is as important as anything and a deal-maker.

Matt, where in MN are you. We are planning on going out this weekend if the wind isn't too bad. Feel free to stop by for a pull.

Thanks Matt! Was there a significant difference in price?

                  MNSuperAir:

Thanks for the offer. I am from the southern metro area, and this weekend I am heading up north to help take out docks/lift for the in-laws. Good luck and I hope you get out with the crazy weather we are having.

                  SGY:

There was less than a $1k difference in price between the two new boats, but the options were a bit different in each one so that has to be taken in context.

Got it, we took out the docks in Alex last weekend. Much nicer weather than now.

MSRP doesn’t really mean much. Kind of like when retail stores mark a product up so they can turn around and discount it and say it’s on sale. When was the last time someone quoted you MSRP and you actually expected to pay it?

Still, kudos to Malibu for actually being willing to post those #s on their website.
