ER, my first initial reaction was "no deal," in that I agree with you, but for some reason I have a little faith in CC and feel they will pull through with this one... its a deal... ;-)

I agree that the vast majority of needed improvements will not occur....since we have several years of cc websites to back it up. I really do hope I'm proven wrong, but I expect to see:

1.) Flash Flash Flash Flash Flash for everything instead of just for the boat builder(where it actually makes sense)
2.) Small useless photos instead of large detailed ones
3.) Infrequent updates

I really don't mean to bash, I know how difficult it is to create effective web marketing...but some of these things should be common sense. Ask any average web user what ticks them off.

Does anyone else besides me think that's it just a little strange on how often CC changes their website? I mean what other company comes out with a whole new look every year? There's too much buzz on the site and not enough on the boats. If they just could come up with a functional site that reflects the image of the company, all they would have to do is update the product each year.

redelf75 - they are totally within the normal range in that regard. Although this doesnt really apply to CC, many public companies go through a redesign at least once every 18 months, and although it is somewhat annoying for their development team (um - like me) I think it is a good idea. Big companies, especially in technology have to keep up with the current Web standards at any given time. Any of the big boat companies SHOULD be doing a redesign every year. It should be a decent portion of their Marketing budget, since companies like CC drive so much business through their site and those of their dealers.

Sad part is that in many cases, the dealer sites are often better than the site of Correct Craft itself. That is NOT how you want it, from the standpoint of a Creative Director or Web Marketing VP/Director.

you guys should really like the new site. I hope that they do not release it until a lot more content is added and some minor changes are made. There is still flash but it is not the basis for the site (their are flash movies in certain areas). It does load a whole lot better. The boat builder is 100% better than what they have had.

This site has not had a full re design in over 2 years. They are working with a new company that is huge and has done a ton of web work. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Time will tell though!
