I towed one time with the current tower down cover on the actuated tower and had rub marks on the gel coat... I just tow with the cover off always so wouldn't solve my problem unfortunately

How tight did you ratchet everything down? I had issues with slight rubbing if I didnt tighten everything enough, when I snugged it up really tight I no longer have rubbing issues.
