ski "2001" vs. 94 Sport

The dealer sent me the pictures of the 95 sport with 163 hours. The boat looks great, but I have two concerns about the boat. First the boat was left in the water every year. Second take a look at the engine and can someone tell me what engine this is? Also should I worry about the way it looks?

Examine the bottom of the hull for evidence of blistering. Look for signs of water getting to hign inside the bildge. I believe that motor is an early GT-40. Multiport fuel injection, good thing. Do I see some rust on the altenatorand pulleys?

I talked to the salesman and he said that there is some blistering on the back of the boat, but it's not bad. He said that the engine is an early GT-40 310hp.

What do you guys think, should I buy it. He's asking 15,500, but will come down. He said he will put a thirty day warranty on the engine on that boat since it is one of his trades. There is only 163 hours on the engine and he said it's been tuned-up. It also comes with a brand new cover and the hull has been buffed out.

That's difficult to say from those 2 pictures. We leave our boat in the water al year and don't have any problems with it. You will see on some parts that corrods a bit faster (like the pulleys in your picture). The engine is bullit proof, and if he would put some warranty on it... I think 15k5 is a bit to much, but these are great boats. I would go for a sport instead a 2001!

My local CC dealer I should be able to get it for 14k. I am no longer looking at 2001's only sports. Here are some more pictures. Do you guy's think the spots on the driver's seat will come off?

I would jump on it. Its a great boat that just needs to be cleaned up and its less than 1/2 the price of a new on. For 14K I don't see how you could go wrong unless the engine blows up the first day you use it and I don't think that will happen. Go for it.

Yeah, those spots should clean up pretty easily. Get some Magic Erasers and some 303 and you'll be all set.

My understanding of "Magic Erasers" is that they are abrasive. Start with A mild dishwashing soap (Dawn) diluted in water, and a soft nylon bristle brush. Next step, use "Fantastic" cleaner. Other cleaners remove agents that keep your upholestry soft. Once it starts getting hard, it then cracks. I understand The upholestery also has a coating on it that resists staining. Abrasive cleaners and methods remove this, and your upholestry stains quicker next time.
Would the thirty day warrenty apply from the time you took delivery, or when you started using the boat next Spring?

I going to look at the boat saturday morning and if all looks good i'm going to take it. He said the 30 day warrenty would start in the spring. Do you guys think the spots on the carpet will clean up?

Looks like a potential winner. Check if that driver seat is damaged permenatly or if it will come off. The engine cover looks to be in excellent shape so I am wondering if they have replaced some of the vinyl? The cover supports they made tells me that someone cared enough to make them which is good.
