    211 wake setup....

many thanks to mdman (posted the 236 wake pics - he was kind enough to share his 211 setup experience...

we weighed our 211 as he suggested and the wake was crazy (clean, big, steep and a major kick )

we went with full factory ballast, 160 lbs of lead in each locker and a 250 lb fat sack in each locker. 250lb fat sack in the belly w/ 240 lead on top in the belly area.

remind me to leave my slalom ski at home if I ever go out with you guys...

last weekend was the first time out in my 211 since I moved the golf cart batteries to either side of the motor instead of both in the starboard storage compartment. This allowed me to lose the 75lb lead brick I had been carrying around in the boat to make it ride level. I quickly discovered that the wake was down since there were only 2 people in the boat. It's amazing how sensitive this boat is to weight. I just picked up some pop bags that I will start using. They will go in the rear lockers for wakeboarding and surfing then up to the bow when I go out on the ski. I think this should work pretty well.

I have found that you can do almost anything to the 211 wake you want with the wakeplate or by adding weight. Not steep enough, move the weight back. Not big enough, add more weight. Too hard for skiing, lose all extra weight or at least move it forward.

          clubmyke-

how many people in the boat with that weight?

what speed was best for a clean hard wake?

did the boat want to porpoise?

          no weight in the bow?

I'm still trying to dial in my 211, and this sounds like a really good setup.

          Thanks!

mikeski, hit the nail on the head...the boat is really sensitive to weight and how it is weighed..after owning this boat for 1 1/2 years , this is the best we have seen it..

we had a small crew that day - 3 people
            speed - 22.7 mph
boat did not porpoise (it felt close)
bow weight was over in and over the locker and in the walkway.
( i drained the some weight out of the port because i have 2 optima batteries on that side)

the wake was pretty insane..one of the riders who charges it, got a bit shook up because it was flat out big, clean, and bucked just like a 210...

            pretty cool imo..

btw, drop a line when you plan to come to san diego and we'll do a wakeboard/surf session

I took info from Mikeski & clubmyke as well as a few other folks. I wanted to ski and decided almost everything I added for boardin would have to go so I, the wife or someone else could ski while we are out without alot of additional weight or time to unload it. I have bags plumbed into the stock system. We can ride anywhere from 21.5 to 23 and 70-80ft without washover or porposing.

Stock ballast in rear and belly, 250 custom bags on top of each rear tank, 200+/- lbs in steel block all the way forward in the nose under the bow cushion with 3 or 4 adults.

Nothing but compliments on shape, size and girth. Best way to put it is that it's thick, not as steep as a 210, doesn't have as much trough but is more vert than a Malibu.

BTW - I tested the surf wake on it last w/e and was amazed at how the thing stood up and how far back the lip curled. Driver side tank & bag full, belly full, 2 adults in the seat behind the driver. Wow is all I can say.

nautidad - i ran pretty much the same setup as you... i moved my lead sacks from the nose to further back over the ski locker and by the driver feet and it added a major lip/kick (ran the belly full too) and increased the through (and cleaned it up)..

the surf wake off a 211 is pretty crazy... you can really dial it in with the hydrogate..

I went out yesterday with the setup as follows:

Full Factory ballast - 300lb bags in each compartment beside the motor- 660 where the rear seat would be - 400lb bag in ski locker - and 300lb bag in bow floor - four riders.

About 2600lbs total. It was hard to get on plane but man it was huge. I was scared to hit a double up. It had a nice lip and was rock hard. Not as abrupt as a 210 but it was close. We will definately be using this setup again. Just need to get some faster pumps........

Brad, were my markers still at the bottom of the ramp? After dropping my trailer off the back of it three weeks prior, I wasn't taking any more chances.

Stock + 3 fly high x series sacs + 150 lead in nose, sport shift in wakeboard mode. 750 + 350 + 350 + 600 + 150 = 2200. One or two people and usually two 65 pound golden retreivers for balance. The 644 was slow, so I run the Acme 856. Line length and mph is dependent on rider, but 70-80 ft and about 23-24. Sometimes when in a hurry we run just the stock ballast and slow down to 21-22 and shorten the rope a bit and it works fine as well.

moved my pop products lead bags from under the bow to the belly area (driver feet and under observer seat) and added a sack in the locker. it made a remarkable difference in the steepness of the wake and trough(ie 210-ish).

i'll place a couple more bags in the walkway to help the boat get on plane faster (80lbs) and start off with the hydrogate in ski mode...

cant wait to get out this weekend and try it...

Which ramp? We were on lake palestine...... I have not been on lake tyler in 3 months. Once we hit 7.5' low I could no longer get in. Bellwood is also down. I haven't been there in a few months either. Have you been on Caddo lately or is it down really bad too....

jonfo & bchesley - Have either of you tried the 1234 Acme? Gotta say it pulls a fully loaded boat out of the hole like it has no ballast at all. It looks like a porp on a tug boat and pulls like one too. Was worth every penny.

got the 1234 and it pulls really well.. we do lose a little on the top end about 39-40 mph at 4900 rpm (with bimini, speakers, 600 lbs of lead, empty factory ballast)...

it seems we use much less gas if we keep the speed below 30mph...
