SV211 2004 no ski-pole, now what?

I am looking at a 2004 211 TE (330hp) in mint condition with one (in my mind) huge downside. it has no ski pylon in front of the engine.

I really want to use it for its crossover abilities, and am really in doubt now, what I should do. the price is quite good.

I know it has a tow point all the way in the back of the boat, near the platform, but does that work for skiiing?

Is it possible to install a skipylon still?

does anyone have some other comments on possible flaws in the 2004 model, if any?

You should NOT use the lifting ring to pull skiers. It is only designed to lift the boat.

People have installed pylons on boats not originally equipped with them. It is involved, but can be done.

haha :grin: I already expected something like that. It sounded weird already when the salesperson said it it had a tow-eye.

There is a little bit more information here. This is for a 210, but the idea is the same.

All that will be required is a rearmount, the pylon, trim ring & mounting hardware. The engine frame should already be configured with tabs to bolt the rearmount up. Then you just need the measurements to center up the pylon, drill the holes, insert pylon through the deck and onto the rearmount, square everything up and tighten it all down.

There is an aluminum subframe that is also needed for the pylon, it does not come in the 2004's without the pylon. The install should not be too bad but it's not as simple as you make it sound. Check with hsmunoz, he as investigated the installation on his 2004 211.

well here she is... I am now also a 211 member I guess...
tow-pylon will be installed by the dealer.

it's a 2004 TE. I really like the colour. saw another one just like it on another post, so that makes 2, but haven't seen a lot more in this style.

I'll post some nicer pictures when it'll be in the water in april 2007.

i would have to agree, there are not alot with this color scheme (very understated..we get alot of compliments).

did you check your garage? it would be quite a David Copperfield though, to steal it without you noticing and have it in The Netherlands (Europe) already, with a new bimini...

Did you figure out the pylon?

If you need pictures and measurements one of us should be able to provide them. I was looking at mine the other day after reading this thread. I think it would be pretty easy to bolt on the parts from Nautique. If you wanted to do your own frame I don't think it would be very difficult to improve upon the factory frame to incorporate malibu's retractable pylon into it either. I know that what hsmunoz was planning.

Mikeski, I'm going for the original Nautique pylon to keep things "original", but it is unfortunate indeed that Nautique only got to a retractable pylon this year and only in the 236. Anyway, I'm going to look at "updating" the boat probably in teh course of next year. For now, I simply can't wait to be out on the water in April next year.
