    2011 SAN 230 Opinions

Ok so I’ I’ve been all over the place…. Leaning to a 230 and although it seems the 2012 and IP are the way to go. I found a 2011 in decent shape with 450 hours on the 409. It’s $55k. Seems pretty reasonable from what I’ve found. Thoughts on this boat? Should I keep looking for a slightly newer one?

That’s a great boat for the money. I loved my 230. What do you want to do with it? It’s ready to go as-is for wakeboarding. For surfing you’ll need to add some additional ballast and a stick on wake shaper. For skiing, I’d look elsewhere. Looks like it’ll need new interior skins soon so you want to price that out. It’s probably more than you think. Also, it had the LINC 1 screen. There’s not a direct replacement anymore but there’s a LINC 2 retrofit. It’s about $5k when it eventually does break. But that’s one of those things that may last for years or days.

Definitely surf some and wake board. I have 2 boys ages 10 and 13 and they’re ready to wakeboard (more than off my bat boat) and learn to surf. I’m sure we will do some tubing as well.

How’s the storage once you add all the extra ballasts? Is there any room for anything else.

The dealer says they “deep cleaned” the interior and it looks better than that. But who knows. They’re getting me more pictures first.

So just my opinion here... The 230 is the best boat for the money, ideally a 2009. But the 2011 has both gauges, and the Linc screen so theoretically, you would at least have a back up. I can remember working wakeboard events when the linc came out, and they would have issues occasionally (it was new so working out bugs) where it would go blank and there was no way to tell anything with the boat. Speed, RPM , temp - nothing.
This boat you are looking at, it most certainly a salt water boat being from Miami Nautiques. Not necessarily being a downer here, but it looks like a boat that may have been left uncovered quote a bit. I actually see a bit of corrosion on the SS bolt above the 'new' tower speaker.
Again, not necessarily to rule it out - but I think you should get that boat for $50k or just under... Realistically... I would not pay over $46k for it, but that's just me.

Thanks for the reply. I missed that. Now I understand a few things. They did a lot of things that I couldn’t quite understand:

“Engine, transmission and v drive pulled and repainted, raw water pump and pulleys replaced. Exhaust hose replaced. Entire bilge was repainted with engine out requested by customer.”

There had to be some corrosion or something going on to do all that. I think I’m going to pass. THANKS guys.

Yeah that sounds like someone that may not have cared enough for the boat...

2009 is the best year for the 230 due to the traditional gauges. Looks like the boat may be a little salty.

Does it have a trailer? That will add some coin.

For my needs, I would not buy a boat unless it had NSS. Surfing is all we do.
