How to tell boat model

I am looking to purchase what is listed as a 2002 Super Air Nautique. I have done some research and the boat I am looking at has newer graphics on it that say super air nautique, but it looks more like an air nautique 196. It also says it has the PMC Excalibur 343 engine which was not introduced to years later. I have included an image of the boat if people can tell from the looks, it is a direct drive and not a Vdrive. There is no image of the motor and I am looking at it today so if anyone has and suggestions please let me know.

It is definitely not an Air Nautique 196. The open bow with a walk-through eliminates that model.

It APPEARS to have a center-mounted pylon, whoch would indicate a direct-drive, not a V-drive Super Air Nautique.

Also, the accent stripe being on the bottom of the main stripe (instead of on top like a SAN), indicates a direct-drive Air Nautique.

The little hook in the hull (just in front of the front trailer wheel) indicates Pro Air Nautique.

My guess is that this is a 2002 Pro Air Nautique with completely incorrect graphics (that look silly on that boat in my opinion). I hate it when people pretend their boat is something that it is not (ESPECIALLY when they are trying to sell it).

The Excalibur 330 first became available mid-year 2002, so that is a potential correct engine for that boat. It would not be a 343 unless the engine was replaced at some point.

The Pro Air Nautique is considered the least-desirable hull from a wakeboarding perspective. That hull just wasn't as good as the regular Air Nautique or the SAN.

That'd do it. Or it should have a model listed on the USCG plate, if that's still readable.

Thanks everyone for the responses. It was just an air nautique, I could see it in the gelcoat at the back. Had the newer raised silver letters on it as well. Nice boat but couldn’t get close on numbers so will keep looking.

I just purchased the boat. It is a sport nautique according to the plaque on the side. I sent a message to correct craft with the hull number to make sure I have the correct information. I was hoping for a 19’ boat because of the dock but super excited to ski tonight. Went out for a nice drive and the boat ran well at wakeboard and ski speeds. I am happy to be apart of the group.
