I have finally purchased a new to me 2002 sport nautique. I am trying to make sure that when I do a tune up on the engine I am using the right specifications. A previous owner has lost the engine cowl and I had to contact CC to make sure I had the correct engine ID as the plate is starting to peel slightly. The engine ID is PLA-PR-R12M-421098 and after reading all manuals I cannot tell if is a chev or ford based engine. The information CC sent me said it was 330HP and I cannot find an engine spec to match. From the numbers I could read on my plate match the ones from CC so I know that the engine should still be the original. Sorry for the silly questions but I want to make sure I am looking after this boat as well as I can with the correct information.

2002 was a transition year for PCM swapping over to Chevy-based engine for Ford-based. Since they said 330 you likely have the Excaliber 330 which is the Chevy-based engine. The Ford-based engine was called GT-40 and the intakes look very different between the 2 engines.
Pictured here are the Ford-based GT-40 with its 2 intake options, then the Chevy-based Excaliber 330.Jason

Ford - Distributor on front end of engine near water pump
Chevy - Distributor on rear end of engine near flywheel
Keep in mind most engines in v-drive boats are mounted backwards

A PLA is definitely an Excalibur 330.
