There is no argument here on the fact Nautique has moved from producing core rider/skier products to the luxury market. Obviously it’s working for their profit margins . That shift has left the core skiers/riders that built the brands name in the dust. It’s crying shame what they’ve done to the “weekend warriors”. While again I understand it’s working for them as they can’t produce them quick enough , it’s still awful to watch unfold .

Love the boat, but I would definitely be willing to take that bet. They didnt come close to selling out Paragon slots last year, and given the recent steep dive in the luxury boat market, I highly doubt this year will be a sell out year...... for any model line.

Jeff are you implying the wake/wave is that much bigger compared to the previous paragon?

Did they change the hull (running surface) at all or just the upper portion and top deck?

Dang, that wave, niiice! Pretty impressive rig for sure, I'm not sure I could even swing the insurance on it.
If you end up in a '24 Jeff, hold it for me for 20 years, I'll send you a PM in 2043 (in my price range)...

Was Murray there? I know he would have tried to ski on the pillows, lol.

"It's business, not personal." Is a saying that we all use when convenient for us. I've said it on here before and I will say it again, Nautique owes nothing to anyone and if people love the 00's era boats, good for them but change and driving the market has been a clear statement from Nautique since day 1. V-drives, towers on boats, heck, even wakeboarding at one time upset the "people that built the brands name", it will always be something. If it isn't the boat for you, so be it but Nautique does not owe anyone an explanation. Look at all the companies that refused to change because they dug their heels in on change... i.e. blockbuster. I would much rather see a company expand, innovate, and push boundaries. It is supposed to be exciting and I can't afford the new paragon but I certainly love what the brand has done.

You're right on all accounts but that doesn't mean what they're doing won't backfire one day. They still have the Ski Nautique which I think keeps that core skier's toe in the water so to speak but be careful alienating your core too far or find yourself becoming the next Bud Light case study.

Being older, I have lived through several waves of change in the economy that have been devastating to the boating market. While the full on luxury market is pretty insulated from the mainstream buying public, 2008 comes to the top of the list of a time that hit even the big guys. Combine that with the fickle nature of the rich when it comes to trends and fashion and it's not to hard to imagine a market that could very well collapse.

The people most excited about this announcement: Malibu

Been out of the wake game for a couple years. Just got back out on the lake this weekend. Could not believe the number of Axis boats on the water, followed by Malibu. You used to see them like any other boat, but they were straight up everywhere this weekend. Boat price shifts seem to have definitely changed customer behavior and brand balance.

Here in MN, I would estimate that Malibus outnumber Nautiques 10:1. Aside from Marine Max, we have no Nautique dealers in the MSP area and several smaller, regional Malibu and Mastercraft dealers. I know I go to the local Mastercraft dealer as much as I can--they're good to deal with. MM, not so much.

I'd concur about how Malibu seems to be backfilling the space vacated as Nautique seems to be happy to push upmarket.

                      I'm guessing if I ever sell my 206, I won't be replacing it with a Nautique.... ☹️

My guess is we'll hit somewhere between 8 to 10 pages on this thread.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the pillows. Going to order some for my couch at the office (tax write off).

I did have a conversation with my CPA a few weeks ago, "So how much are you using your boat to entertain clients?". "Keep a log book until the end of the year and we'll see where you are at". That was a major break through, I never get anything creative past him, we'll see where this goes, ha...

Even with that, I would never get $400k plus past my CFO and really cute best friend that lives with me, when I could buy 3 to 4 really nice workable boats (pillows extra) of different colors for different days of the week.

The Paragon is an alien space ship head turner for sure, irregardless.

Supra has really taken hold in our area due to pricing. Malibu likely coming up next.

That P25 with a full tank of fuel and loaded with gear is going to be really close to DOT 10,000lb limit of needing CDL license just to tow it down the road... not that many people will be towing these to the lake, but is something to consider!

Otherwise I'll gladly ride behind on e of these, but never be able to even come close to affording one!

That is a good point...... However, based on specs, it wont be "close". It will be well over that 10k CDL limit. Even the P23 will likely be over.....
