I was the restoration lacky for my father growing up, we did 4 wood boats together, at least that's all my PTSD will currently allow me to remember. He'd probably be brought up on child endangerment charges in these times based on the amount of unsupervised time I spent using paint stripper alone.
Most of the boats my father brought home were someone else's project that didn't get completed. I remember him buying one at the launch ramp from a very frustrated guy when it wouldn't start. Guess it was the final straw for him. It was probably one of the nicest ones we had. Everything wood wise was done but the guy just couldn't deal with the mechanical aspect. I did one set of stringers with him on an old fiberglass 1969 19' Sea Ray flat deck he bought super cheap knowing the stringers were rotten. The experience has clearly stayed with me and not in a positive way. I've also replaced a couple soft floors along the way as well, basically the same experience. Just when you think you have everything covered along comes another area that needs attention. That's why if you follow any of the restoration threads where the person knows what they're doing, they just rip the entire floor and stringer system out and start from scratch. And don't get me started on rotted transoms.....
While I love to look at a beautifully restored wood boat or an old fiberglass ski boat, I have no desire whatsoever to ever do anything restoration wise to another. Those that enjoy this type of misery are a special breed.

This one is pretty nice and cheaper compared to the Dunphy that showed up on CCF a couple of weeks ago- https://www.correctcraftfan.com/foru...d-in-the-woods
