Just wanted to see what people were choosing to do with the extended warrant the dealerships offer? I was quotes 4k for boat amd acessorries and 5k for engine. Both are trasferrable and last for 10 years.
My knee jerk reaction - figure out which one covers the electronics...dash displays, switching systems, pumps, sensors, water jacking systems...all that...and take a hard look at that policy. With the electrical accessory complexity of the new boats and the price to diagnose and repair the e-systems, I'd bias that way. I'd also read carefully about what the coverage will do if the dealer states they are unable to repair.
To me, engines and drivetrains feel less risky as long as you don't abuse them or hit something. And there are more options on how to get them fixed.
Take it for what it's worth...I'm an old boat guy.
The factory warranty is five years, 1,000 hours. That's it. Anything over that is not coming from Nautique, and may be difficult to use if your dealership ever closes or changes hands.
I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.
