My Sea Nautique Was Damaged in Bad Storm

Well, I have some devastating news.

The Sea Nautique was sitting on my lift this afternoon when tornadoes came through the area. Unfortunately a tree fell on my boathouse, and the Sea Nautique took the brunt of the damage. I can’t really see too much of what got damaged until we have the tree removed, but the port windshield is smashed, the rail around the deck is ruined, and I believe one of the front cabin windows is broken. There is also gelcoat damage on the front and sides.

We also had a large tree fall onto our detached garage / guest house. Luckily nobody was in the guest house. Normally this time of year we have it rented out via Airbnb, but we just had some guests leave and nobody was in there today.

I am very upset about the Sea Nautique. Hopefully it isn’t too bad to be fixed. We’ll see once the tree is removed.

The windshield is unobtainable, but I might be able to have one fabricated. I really hope the cabin roof isn't crushed.

Ah....sh*t. I'm so sorry Jeff. Glad you and your family are safe but I can only imagine how awful that must feel.

Dam Jeff that sucks. You got hit with a double whammy last night. Winds on Lanier rearranged my upper deck furniture again but didn't have any damage like this. Still cleaning up trees and carnage from a couple weeks ago. Important thing to remember is you and your family are okay. Could've been a LOT worse.

I am very thankful that everyone is OK. I was outside gassing up the generator when the tornado hit. I knew a bad storm was coming, so I was getting everything set up. One second it was fairly calm, and the next second there was insane wind. I had just finished with the generator, and about got knocked over. My wife started screaming for me, but I didn't understand why. I ran inside and the power went out. When I got inside, she told me she thought I was still on the dock, and showed me the tree that was on the Sea Nautique. I had no idea it had even fallen. That's how loud the wind was.

After everything was over and we went outside to inspect, we found that a second tree had fallen on our garage / guest house. Luckily nobody was staying there right now. We never even heard it fall. I just went inside the guest house and found that part of the tree has pierced into the living space, right over the couch. So glad nobody was in there!!!

So sorry to hear, Jeff. But really glad you and the family are safe. Fingers crossed that the damage looks worse than it is. If anyone has the skills to fix things, it's you.

Here's a shot that shows the port windshield. I also realized today that the lift is all off-center now and the pilings are leaning badly. Looks like the lift is getting reconfigured too...

Wow you got clobbered! Of all the directions for that tree to fall, it had to go that way. The material things are replaceable, that tree on the house could of been ugly. That is crazy, always a good day when you get to walk away, glad to hear everyone's safe.

We were at a Church Girls Camp a few weeks back. One of the returning girls had a tree destroy the cabin where her bed was last Summer, she had just gotten up to get a drink of water not but 5 seconds earlier. God's hand is great, doesn't always mean a straight path, but certainly makes it easier.

If we were a little closer, I know about 5 or 6 dudes on this thread that would throw chain saws in there rigs and be there in a heartbeat...

Sorry to hear that, Jeff. My brother in law is on Lake Norman in Troutman and they had some pretty bad damage as well, several trees down on the dock. Glad you're all ok.
