    GS22 vs Supra for waterskiing

Hi there, would love some feedback from any waterskiiers here. We are debating between the GS22 and the Supra SA450, and were wondering if anybody has waterskiied behing both or knows anybody who has waterskiied behind both. Most of our time will be spent surfing but we do like to waterski quite a bit. We are not skiing courses, just skiing recreationally, so don't need the perfect ski wake just need something functional.

Any feedback on the GS22 vs the SA450 would be very appreciated (in particular any feedback on the waterskiing front!)

I have not skied behind a Supra SA450 boat, but the spec sheet gives it 1000 lbs more than the GS22 and it isn't marketed as an all around boat.

For what it's worth, I am more than happy with my GS22 for recreational skiing, and it pushes a great wave for surfing.

A couple gs20 and gs22 people I have talked to picked them for skiing vs G and Supra's, I don't think I've heard or seen anyone skiing in a last decade Supra even though there are quite a few around. Since 2016ish the supras are deep.

Can anyone comment on the new hull GS22 wakeboard wake? I might be moving to a smaller private lake and I’m considering moving to a gs22 from my g23.

I think we are similar to OP. We like to do all tow sports, none extremely seriously. Skiing ranges from teaching people to a few of us who are somewhat serious slalom though not skiing courses. A couple of kids are pretty good on boards and likely need to graduate to a better wake boat.

Going from our SV211TE to a GS22… The GS22 has a somewhat better wake for boarding and surfing. Not nearly as good for skiing (IOO). With skiing the wake and area between seems much harder than our 211 and seemingly a bit bigger which is worse for everyone from those learning to cross the wake for the first time to slalom. For us the slightly better boarding isn't worth the loss in skiing.

Haven't tried the Supra though as mentioned above, it's not considered any type of ski boat.

For us we've not found anything better than a 211 as a crossover. It seems anything that offers better boarding/surfing has much worse skiing and better skiing is pretty much a towboat with no real capabilities for board/surf. Our 211 should have been replaced by now but for us we've not found a suitable replacement (and oh how prices skyrocketed during covid!).

Sorry for the slow response on this, but as far as the wakeboard wake, it's really good. For us amateurs, its more than enough to pop us in the air. We had a lesson from the AFWake guys on Lake Gaston, NC this summer and one of their instructors loved the wake, saying "top 5" on the lake. We have the 2023 GS22 with the supplemental ballast.
