So, i picked up my 00 SAN with the Python saturday. It was about 500 miles from home so I had the dealer shrink wrap the boat as I didn't have a towing cover and the weather wasn't great. They got the boat done and brought it out and hooked it up to my truck and we drove about 90 minutes to a hotel and stayed the night.
The next morning, I didn't check the tow hitch before we left... and needless to say, the trailer came off on the highway. It is totally my fault for not checking it, but obviously it was either not put on properly by the dealer or someone messed with it in the hotel parking lot.
So, the trailer comes unhitched at about 60mph and the emergency brakes fail to work on the trailer. The trailer proceeds to slam into the back of my truck repeatedly and since we're going downhill, we had no option but to try and get the trailer lodged into the back of the car so we could slow it down with the truck. The boat shifted on the trailer quite a bit, but it seems the boat is ok. My Armada on the other hand took quite the beating and we were stuck in the middle of the highway for about 30 minutes with cars whizzing by. We got the trailer rehitched and had to take the boat to a launch (luckily there was one about 3 miles away) to float the boat and get it back on the trailer right.
Needless to say, the remaining 400 miles were crazy because i had no way of knowing how or why the trailer came off in teh first place. Every bump I hit I held my breath. But, she's here, she seems to be in good condition, no one was hurt... so I think I'm lucky. I think i'm going to name the boat "Unhitched"
