That is a scary story, I am glad no one was injured. I am impressed how well your Armada held up after having to use it to stop the boat and trailer.

This story reminds me of a similar experience that happend to a friend. They were traveling in their auto and it broke down on the highway. They called for a tow truck and the tow truck (not flat bed) picked up the car and my friend. They proceeded to drive to a repair facillity. While enroute on the highway, the car fell off of the tow truck without anyone knowing. My friend saw this car passing them on the highway and thought, hmmm... that looks like my car. The tow truck driver had to speed up and get in front of the car and let it ram the back of the tow truck to stop it.

I had a tire come off my trailer and pass me on the highway. That was a miserable trip!

Jeff, just having a little bit of fun. If you remember, dragon was very protective of those photos, and i did not blame him for it. he drew a lot of heat for not posting them.

Things could have gone worse. Just think if the boat would have come off the hitch and passed you in the fast lane,

when we picked our boat up in austin we were driving back and the asphalt changed from smooth to kinda rough and it flat out burst the back right tire on our trailer which disentagrated and bent the fender in on the rim. we were stuck in the middle of no where, texas until we figured wed try to roll into columbia. so we got to columbia like 2 hours later after going 30 on the highway. we had the guy who works on our boat now, drive up to columbine with the spare. Ended up sitting in a walmart slowly bending the fender off the wheel. that was not a fun day/night/morning we got back to h-town at like 2 but the boat was fine and we took her to the river the next day. but your story makes me love my boat even more.

Definitely makes you want to be sure to double check everything before you take off. I kinda wish there were stricter regulations on tow stuff. Actually I just wish that people were more responsible this day and age. (This is not really directed at the original poster, moreso at the guy towing his ATV trailer that wrecked our SAN seen on the first page.) I'm not going to stand on some high horse and act like I do a 100 point inspection before we take off down the road, but I do check the hitch and make sure the latch is on properly, check tire pressure, and take any precautions I can to reduce my risk to the boat and others traveling on our roads. I'm glad that you didn't get hurt, health is really all that matters. Sheetmetal can always be replaced...

All I can say about my experience is that guy is SO lucky that he didn't kill anyone. Looking back on it it's really scary to think that if it had happened a half second sooner there's a good chance it would have severely injured or killed all of us. It's scary to think how out of control everything really is and how QUICK things can happen. Those photos still make my heart drop. **** I miss that boat. RIP Nikolai.

PS. The Rankin did hold up pretty decently, save the part where it was ripped to shreds by the sheet metal of the ATV trailer...
            How about \"Chales\"?

            RIP Nikolai (\'05 SANTE) 5/23/05 - 4/30/06

Just a question. Other than 3 places, Austin, Dallas, and Houston isn't all of Texas "out in the middle of nowhere? Yellow_Flash_Colorz: Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

You forgot San Antonio, but at times that could be considered in the middle of no where.

baine157, if you mean Columbus, not columbia or columbine, I work in Columbus, and the former owner of the Nautique dealer in Houston's parrents live just outside of Columbus. If they had seen you at the local wally world they would have been the first people to help you.

Also if you have a problem again, call the cooper tire shop in town and ask for Ryan. He is a real nice guy, and would be more than willing to help.

That reminds me, I need to go get some high capacity magazines before the dems ban them again.
