2003 SAN Team Edition 210 Motor and Worth

    Hello all,

I am going to look at a 2003 SAN team edition 210 that has been sitting for at least 3 years with no engine out of the water. I am wondering how much a new engine would cost to get replaced and what the boat is worth as it sits. I am fairly mechanically inclined and have replaced multiple car/truck motors but think boats might be a different can of worms? I know absolutely nothing about boats but like most, went out with a friend and now I am hunting for my own...

It is listed for 6k as it sits but saw an old post where it was listed as a package deal with another 210 for 2k

Looks like it's missing more than simply the motor. No transmission, v-drive unit, motor mounts at a minimum. If you're buying new motor, trans, v-drive from a marinizer such as PCM you're probably looking at 35-50k. It doesn't help that the 5.7L that was likely in that boat is no longer available now. So that leaves you with newer more expensive engine options. I'd also say, probably not a good place to start if you don't have experience with working on boats. Quite a lot that's different than cars. And unlike cars, there not nearly as much documentation available like shop manuals.

Goodness…well for 35-50k I would probably get a newer boat. I was thinking I would end up around 20k once it was all back together. I’m glad I posted here instead of going in blind.

      thankyou for the advice
