Strapless Racks | Have you seen this..?

I just picked up these racks and wonder if anyone has seen this before.
The black coating has separated or cracked. The metal isn’t bent and no signs of impact. It would be easy to say a rope or something put stress on it, but the cracks or separation is also in flat areas also that would not be flexed or compromised. I’ve not seen this before. Anyone..?

I’m starting to see this on my 2021. Should be covered under warranty I assume?

Looks like the coating is shrinking causing it to split overtime to me. Isn't it a kind of rubberized coating?
