Question - while this solves items around the engine box, how are people solving the keeping the cabin heater from freezing (under unit in the console)?

SilentSeven I used to put one of these on the floor under my dash - kept the heater core nice and warm.

Rednucleus Ah yes...I have those and use them to keep mildew and mold at bay during winter. Run 3 actually... I never felt they produced enough heat to prevent freezing...and my heater core is mounted under the dash and behind a kickboard so it's pretty walled off. Is your setup different?

The heater cores in newer closed-cooled boats are already part of the antifreeze system, so this isn't a problem on newer boats. Older boats that use raw water there this would certainly be a concern. Although with warm air circulating under the deck, it MIGHT keep it warm enough, I have been known to run a second Xtreme Heater under there just for peace of mind.

SilentSeven mine was in a '95 Sanger and stored in a garage. Core was slightly visible behind a foot pad. The surrounding dash and fiberglass held the heat nicely; put in a thermometer and stayed above 60 in a 30 degree garage.

I have decided not to winterize my Sea Nautique engines or generator this winter either. I'll be using one of my Xtreme Heaters to keep everything warm in there this year.

Hi - I have a question.

I have a 2000 Air Nautique direct drive. I leave my boat on my dock in Texas. The temperature will only get below freezing a few times this year. Will one of these heaters in the engine compartment keep everything on the boat from freezing? Is there anything else I'd need to winterize to keep the boat from getting damaged?

Xtreme may jump in and confirm or add to this response, but in my use of this product over the last decade or so, nothing has needed to be winterized. The only caveat that I can think of is if you have a heater in your boat (the kind with the pull-out tubes). Sometimes the heater core for that type of heater is mounted up in front of the driver's kick panel. If you have one, and it is mounted there, you may want to put an additional heater up there. As far as the engine goes, stick one in the engine compartment, keep the engine cover closed, and you should be good to go.

That's the idea! Normally for a boat with an engine hump we would suggest the 400 watt. If it's on a lift or trailer, go up one size to the 600. Seal it up as much as you can, fumes aren't an issue with these. Where does your exhaust exit on that boat? If it's exposed to direct wind, try to cover the inlet.

Good catch on the front heater core. There isn't enough circulation between the engine compartment and the area they are typically mounted.

The planetnautique discount isn't working. Is there anything I can do to get it to accept the code?

Also, when putting it in the boat is it best at the front of the engine (where the water pump and impeller are) or in the back of the engine where the water hose inlet and filter are located?

I don't have an under dash heater. I'm assuming the 400w heater will work. My boat is out of the water in a lift.
