I haven't posted in almost two years. I've owned two Nautiques. I like them. That said, I've had nothing but bad luck. I had a 2017 G23 arrive devoid of a catalyst in the port side exhaust from Orlando. My 2020 Paragon (#076) has already had the engine out once for a hull crack found on the early models. Last Thursday, I prepared that boat for winterization. I opened the hatch to check to ensure the plug was in place, only to see a bilge full of "liquid". That liquid turned out to be nearly 5 of the 7 quarts that were in the engine of 0W-40 Mobil 1 Supercar. My dealer (a very good one) ultimately knew what it was/is. Apparently the early Paragons/ZZ8s have an issue where fittings at the bottom of the engine fail and leak the engine oil contents out. The fix involves pulling the engine (again). I told them to come get it. I never want to see it again. So here we are. I'm having to get another. I don't think any of the other mass produced boats in this category are better. Pavati is way up in Oregon, and I'm not inclined. So I'll order another Paragon. The tallest midget...

I will say that both Nautique and my dealer have behaved in good faith over these (and many other yet smaller) issues. I expect small issues (this is boating). I've just had too many big ones. My boat sits down in my boathouse right now with a bunch of oil in the bilge. Other than emptying it out of all my belongings, anchors, life vests, bumpers, etc., I'm done.
As much as I am not wild about a new one - I'm hoping the new hull will solve the issues I had with the old one, especially the "wet ride". The first generation Paragon - if you were in traffic - going slowly on the river with rough water (with no room to throttle up to pick up the nose) would take on water terribly. Never liked that - and never had that issue with my 2017 G23.
