RE: Re: RE: Boat Shows: worth it?

Boat shows are a big expense to dealers......not the manufactures. We spent $80,000 in 2005 at the Cleveland boat show. I think we only took one deposit and had all three lines (25 boats) to choose from. We would then have to sell at least 16 Correct Crafts just to pay for the show.

The internet has changed the value that the boat shows once had.

I dont think the numbers are that great for someone to come into the show and buy a boat out of the clear blue. I know that I would never buy a boat at the show. Just my 2 cents.

We cut way back in 2006 (4 boats) (Mastercraft & Mailbu only) and sold even more boats total that year.

I had my mind made up on an 06 VLX. The boat show price changed my mind to the 210

I go every year to check out the candy too, eye candy and boat candy. I live near the ocean and most of the boats are salt water fishing in southeast Va, but there is the Bu and MC dealers and some of the other makes. Always come home and see I have the best at home already. Always see friends there too. They serve beer at boat shows???? Oh yea, that's why we have a DD.

Why don't the manufacturers do boat shows like the auto shows are? For the auto shows, the manufacturers haul their cars around, some come off local lots, but the manufacturers are responsible for the shows. They don't sell cars there, just create the buzz to sell the cars at the dealers.

I never understood why it was done this way. I would not buy one from the show, but do like looking at all the new models.
