G23 settings advice for skiing

First post....

I've got a 22 G23 and it is an amazing wakesurf boat....great for the younger crowd.....i still like to slalom ski once in a while.....however the problem......the wake coming off the boat is really rough.when skiing...is there a way to calm it down some.....the kids say its a wakesurf boat and not meant for skiing.....but im not convinced their isnt a way to calm the wake down...
this happens even though the water is calm as can be when starting.....

I agree with your kids. Get two really stiff ski ropes and tie them together. You should be so far back on the boat that the wakes are not an issue.

Sell the barge to your kids and get youself a nice ski tug!!

I agree. You already have the best wakeboard/surf boat. Why not add a dedicated Ski Nautique to the stable? I have a 1997 available now if you're interested.

Make friends with other hard core skiers in your area and join their early crew while your kids are still asleep.

the G23 and a slalom boat are designed to do the exact opposite of one another, max wake vs. zero wake. Even when boat manufacturers try to make a cross over boat, it’s still not close to a slalom wake for running the course.

what speed and line length are you running? have you tried shortening the rope to 28 or 32 off, that might get you in front of the bigger portion of the wake. Also, what does the wake shape look like if you speed up to 32, 34, or 36 mph? That might reduce the size of the wake as well.

Terrible advice, I know. But best move we made was buying a second boat ('99 ski nautique) in addition to our G23.
If for low key recreational slalom skiing the G23 is the wrong tool.
Also the SN is more versatile in everyway, especially when teaching young kids really any watersport (wakesurfing and wakeboarding included).
The G23 wake/wave is there when they're ready. And you have a fun toy for ripping slalom swerves.

there is really no settings for a wake tanker to slalom with. you must have friends with a slalom boat. or everyone needs more then one boat! Right Jeff?
