    Over or under tower bimini?

What are your thoughts? I have listed the pros/cons as I see them...What are you experiences?

    Over the Tower:
    Pros:
    -Headroom
    -Speakers will not hit
    -Looks
-Less Hardware (seems easier to put up)
    -Easier Access to rope mount

    Cons:
-Cant mount accessories on top (i.e extra racks or lights)
-Does not shade as well as under tower bimini

    Under the Tower:
    Pros:
    -shades cockpit better
-shields passengers from loud tower speakers

    Cons:
-more hardware (seems more difficult to put up)
    -less headroom
-more difficult access to rope mount

RE: Over or under tower bimini?

I really like my over. I get plenty of shade with it all day long. I can't think of anything I dislike about it.

have you picked a manufacture for each of the two possibilities? I'm not sure towerbiminies.som does over...

I'm not sure the sheilding from loud music with the under is a good thing...I like the sound much better with my bimini closed.

I guess it's all personal taste. It seems that you like the looks of overtower bim. I do not. The only tower I've seen where I believe over tower looks good is on the short, MC mini-towers.

I've never owned an over tower, so I can't add much as to functionality. One advantage I could see with over tower would be to keep your speakers out of the range of bird droppings, which, at least in our area, is a problem.

Towerbiminis makes good stuff. That over bim looks pretty nice and strong, but I would think that reaching the pylon would be even harder than the under style...for us elves.

you should probably hire the world's tallest man from the side show to get the rope attached to the tow point with the over tower bimini.

how do you dudes and dudettes get the ropes attached with an undertower bimini on v'drives? I had to stand on the motor box of Quinner's DD to attach ropes.
                I don\'t care.

I am 6'2" and can get my rope attached without difficulty with my under tower bimini. I love the bimini and would do it all over again, no changes.

My Over does not go that far back. It is easy to attach the rope.

I have an '06 220 and with its "chopped up interior" that everyone hates..haha, there is always something to step on to attach the rope.

I'm 6'2" also, and have not issue attaching the rope. My wife is only 5'4" and she doesn't seem to have much trouble either. I think she may stand on the back seat of our V-Drive when she adjusts the rope. BKH

The over the tower bimini looks like it could catch the rope coming around for your skier or possibly wear at the back of the bimini from the rope also. Looking at the shot of the 211 it also appears that quite a bit of direct sunlight is in the boat. Personally like the under mount look better. On the 206 w/under mount getting to the flight clips is a bit challenging but not impossible.

OTW, I wonder if my Bimini extends further back than most, it covers more area then on my previous boat.

Here are a couple shots of my Tower Bimini.

Quinner - I love that gigantic clock pylon you've got going there. Is that an aftermarket accessory or is it available from CC?

As far as I'm concerned, the only reason to have a bimini in the first place is for sun protection and the lower biminis look to provide better coverage. However, if you're someone who would really get bothered having to duck under it all the time, then the top-mounted might be a better choice.

The '06 towers seem pretty well suited for top-mounted biminis since they extend back so freakin' far. I saw a couple at the Detroit boat show last winter that had them and they looked pretty cool.
