Hi guys.I was informed today by an informed person that a 210 is not suitable to tow in a ski show, especially if there is a human pyramid intow .What are your views?????

How big of a pyramid? A six person, 3-2-1 pyramid with good skiers, light girls, and a dock start, with a good driver, no problem. The boat pattern can be run so that the skiers never cross the wake, so wake size is not an issue. Do not tow off the tower, use the pylon, inspect it a lot to be sure it is not loose. Make your pyramids much bigger, and some form of a twin rig will have much greater success.

I would definitely stay away from any V-Drive as a show ski boat, the only act it would be a good solution on is Wakeboard.
A 196 or 206 make much better show ski boats, they can pull more skiers, will be easier to drive, have a smaller wake, etc. etc.
As Daniel said, if your acts get too big find a nice Hydrodyne with a couple 200's or 225's.

Marine world in California used multiple 210s in their show, but also used a 196. I don't recall which boat was used for the pyramid, but I do remember that the barefooter used the 210. BKH2001 Super Air

The ski show here uses a couple of 196s and a Hydrodyne with twin 225s. Large pyramids and multiple (10 or so) footers with the Hydrodyne, everything else with the Nautiques. They also have a "2001" for wakeboarding and hydrofoil. They put all the little kids from the show in the back of the 2001 on the floor for weight. I always thought that was a cute idea, and the kids love it.

Thanks guys, great opionions and great feedback.I think its obvious that a direct drive is alot easier and more suitable/user-friendly to the task in question.
DanielC. -staying within the wake is a "way out" but the significant bow rise ( Hollywood)
really seals its fate.

ski team in tampa uses a hydrodyne with twin 225 mercs for pyramids they use a tige 20I with a 6.0L for barefoot ive seen them do a 6 man b.f and a 5man jump act with it. they also have a single hyrodyne for a ballet line. they have won southeast regionals for the past few years they have a really talented ski team. tampa bay waterski show team is their name i think. i go watch them on sat. nites somtimes.

I actually drive for a ski team on my home lake and we use 206's & 196's for towing the barefoot acts and pyramid. The wakeboarders and knee boarders ride behind a Supra Launch 21 direct drive. The jumpers change it up behind the different boats. We have tried V drive boats in the past but they can be a little sluggish during the boat parade and when the lugging gets tough.

Most of the pyramid type ski shows I've seen use some sort of runabout looking boat with 225 HP outboards on them, usually two but sometimes three. I can't remember ever seeing a pyramid with an inboard boat.

Yeah, theres no disputing that the Hydrodynes are the weapon of choice for big pyramids due to the power of multiple outboards. But a six person pyramid is no problem at all for my 196, even with all adult skiers. I've pulled a 10 person pyramid consisting of adult and child skiers. Granted they were all excellent skiers which makes a HUGE difference.

Trick for pulling multiple skiers like those in a pyramid.
Take a loop of strong rope and put it through the rear lifting ring. Loop should extend about 1 foot above the lifting ring. Run your ropes through the loop and attach them to the pylon. When you pull them off the dock the ropes going through the rear loop will actually "lift" the rear of the boat and get it to plane much faster.
Done this multiple times with our club inboards when the twin rig "Dyne" was down.
Interesting but when pulling multiple skiers horsepower has little to do with it. The number of props in the water is what makes it happen.2018 200 Team H6
