Good SUV tow vehicles?

Happy New Year Everyone,

I am going to purchase a SUV for towing my 96 Sport and my family (currently use F150). I would be interested in hearing experiences and/or recommendations of which SUV's to consider. I want to be able to pack it full and tow my boat 500+ mi at a time.

I tow with a GMC Yukon with the tow package and have no problems pulling my Sport.

I have a Yukon XL, and a Crew cab 2500 Silverado. I like the Yukon/XL the best. Comfortable, tows well, lot of room for people and stuff. Gets 17 Mpg, and about 13 when towing. BKH

VW Tourareg, V8. On my second one. 300 HP, 6 speed, Air suspension etc. Very nice for towing, in fact it tows better than my previous Yukon. Downside is that it is smaller inside, a plus for me as it is my wifes daily driver.

Just got my 07 EXT Esclade. Thats the Truck style SUV I used to have a Ford harley edition F-150/ It was super nice But this Esclade is off the hook. If you have 60K for a Tow rig I cant think of a better rig

For non deisel and non luxury vehicles:

towing is about power and suspension. look for good power and and SUV with airbags.

Nissan Armada was my answer. it comes standard with air suspension. the 5.6L engine has a ton of torque. compared to my former gmc sierra with the 5.3L; well there is no comparison... i couldnt believe the difference when i first towed with my armada. oh, and it wont break the bank to buy...

TDC: My brother has the QX 56 (the Infinity version of the Armada)
Its a great SUV. I recomend it. It fits 4 large "6 foot" adults very comfortably. Way better than my Esclade. But I stll like my EXT better. The Infinity QX-56 would be my second choice in a SUV. Here is a Pic of his QX

Agree w. tdc and Grant...my Armada is a great towing SUV. FWIW, It tows better than the 03 Yuke Denali I had.

We have the buckets in the back seat...so 2 in the front, 2 in the middle row, and 2 in the third row. You could opt for a seat instead of a center console in the 2nd row adding another passenger. There's 3 belts in the 3rd row but I couldn't see 3 peeps (unless they're small ones but then they'd be in car seats, no fitting 3 car seats) fitting in the 3rd row. Also, FWIW, the middle row of seats has more leg room than any SUV I've been in...I'd bet it's got an extra 8-10" over my dad's recently purchased 07 Yuke Denali.

I can't even feel the boat behind my 02 Denali w/ the 6.0L. My 5.3L Sierra pulls great too. If I could I would go diesel though.

I love my 04 Yukon Denali for towing. I also had a 00 expedition 4x4 5.4L that was very good as well. The only other vehicle I towed with was a 97 Grand Cherokee Limited with the V8 option. That was not the best tow vehicle due to brakes.
