Dorsey or EZ Loader

ok guys, have ordered the new 220 with a late feb or early march delivery date. Now need help with the trailer. The choices have come down to either dorsey elite or ez loader illusion. Had a dorsey under my 211, and it was a great trailer, but that ez illusion is a great lookin trailer.
SO, if anyone has experence between these two, let me know what you think.

The Illusions by EZ Loader work well and look good under the 220. If you go the EZ route make sure you specify tall guide poles, 48"-51" depending on how you measure.

Another consideration...

The EZ Load trailers are REALLY tall, so if you garage your boat, it will probably be a problem.

Dorsey trailers ordered by Buxton are generally ordered to support much more weight than what is needed. I kind of like that. I also like the bowstop they use on them. To me a trailer is a utilitarian object. I don't go for the fancy stuff.

I agree trailer is about function not form. One thing I noticed about the trailers pictured above is the upright guides are at the rear of the trailer. I prefer them near the fender, they seem to help me more especially on a windy day. My prestige has them near the fender, a boatmate a friend of mine has has them on the rear, and mine is much easier to load in the wind. Just my $.02.

i vote dorsey. the illusions look good but if you have a shallow ramp they can be a pain in the a** you will have your tow vech. in the water farther than im comfy with to get the boat to float. probablly why they recomend the tall poles because you gota back down in deep water. not saying it cant be done but i prefer not to put my truck that far in the water.

Yes, if you have a shallow entry ramp it can be more difficult to launch off an Illusion rather than the lowest trailer I have seen, which is a Ram-Lin. To me the major height difference comes from the 20" wheels over the 14". It looks as if the chine to fender gap is about the same on the both trailers. Of course I have no numbers to support my claim. Below is a bad comparison picture between a Ram-Lin 220 and Illusion 220. What do you guys see in the pics?

Also the reason for taller guide poles is so they will reach the rubrail. The first 220 Illusion trailers we received the poles would touch the side of the boat and scuff the decal.

ps. after looking at the pics the nose is lower on the Ram-lin and the Illusion tongue is cranked up so it is level. MD
