    Cover?

I've just purchased my 06 210 TE but will have to store it outside for about 6 months to 1 yr. I thought I had seen a Mooring cover that went over the entire boat & all the way down to the trailer. I would love to find one so the sun won't hurt the my color. Most of the covers I find only cover about half-way down the boat. Anybody with pics & suggestions are welcome.

Skiboatcovers.com sells a "water line" cover like the one pictured above.

There was also someone here from Australia that had a cover that extended all the way to the trailer. I believe that was a custom job done locally.

That is a great idea to prevent sun damage to colored gel coat.

Anyone aware of other manufactures with this type of cover that is less expensive?

My SN came with snaps in the rubrail. I may make a seperate snap-on skirt for the west side and use a drawstring boat cover on top.

Ski Boat Covers prices seem very reasonable, considering they have the specific patterns for our boats and use top quality materials (sunbrella). If you can find another place that makes these waterline covers for less money, my guess is that you would be sacrificing fit, workmanship or materials.

I went with a Rankin (not a waterline cover) but have heard good things about SkiBoatCovers. A good cover is not cheap!

                    Cover?

Since I keep my boat on a cradle and under roof, I was just looking for something to keep the bird droppings and dust out. I bought a custom fitted breathable 10 oz cover on eBay for $175.

The previous boat owner had rubrail snaps for the dead cover. For $40, I bought snaps, snap pliers and vinyl fabric. The sunskirt snaps onto the rubrail snaps. A benefit is that sunskirt can be used while cover is off.

Seems like velcro straps fitted to the boat cover and sunskirt would work as well as the snaps. Certainly not a trailerable solution but may eliminate the fading.

There is another discussion on this topic http://gcwa.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4532 where a poster recommended using skiboatcovers.com to add 3 ft skirting around his existing cover. Total cost was $170 including two way postage.

                      RE: Cover?

The posted cover of my boat above is the second full side cover I have had, the previous one was on my 1995 SN. The first one cost $850 for the 19.5' boat in 1998, the second one cost $1000 in 2005 for the 21.5' boat. To keep a boat looking good when it lives outside really requires one of these tight fitting full side covers. The cover maker told me that the darker colors also do a better job of filtering the damaging UV rays off the interior of the boat.

With both covers I had to have after the fact modifications done to get them to my liking. Had I gone with a source that was not local I do not believe that I could have ended up with a cover that I was happy with. I would recommend finding a good reliable source and pay whatever it costs, this is not the place to save $100 +/- by price shopping. I would focus the shopping effort on finding quality workmanship from a shop that is easy to deal with. There are lots of flaky people in this business.

I get my cover fixed at a Tent repair shop. (It is actually an individual that does the repairs in her garage that she setup as a custom canvas shop.) These tent repair facilities are used to making custom shapes, and working with large sized items using thick materials. I would not hesitate to have her make me a custom cover to whatever specifications I wanted.

I have seen covers made by Rankin that have removable sunskirts so that you can take them off and still tow with your cover. not sure on there prices, but im sure you could get a quote.

That custom job from australia looks awesome! too pricey for me but im sure its well worth the $$

Very interesting- any pics? This is the one thing I would like to add to my Rankin, as my boat will spend most of the summer on a lift (no canopy).

Do you know if this was an option offered by Rankin, or was the skirt added after the fact?

I have a local upholstery shop that did very good work in patching some spots in my old sunbrella cover a year or so ago. A place like that should be able to make a custom skirt for an existing cover out of whatever material the cover's made from (are they even still made from sunbrella)?

I've also heard good reviews of the skirts from skiboatcovers.com
