    210 Wake vs. 220 & 236

Below are pictures of the 210 SAN, 236 AN, and 220 SAN wakes.

Knowing the variables when comparing wakes is key. The ideal comparison would be shots of the same rider, ballast set up, speed, line length, lake, and boats from one day. This is as close as I could get. All pics have riders standing in the troughs at roughly the same line length and speed. Notice the 236 rider is standing at the beginning of the wake, which really illustrates the long transition. While the 210 and 220 riders are near the bottom of the transition and not the beginning. The boats are weighted with additional ballast. I labeled how much weight is in the boats except for the 210, because I forgot to ask. The 210 and 236 are running in about 8-10' of water and the 220 shot is in 60' of Dale Hollow goodness.

*Key feature in looking at the 210 wake is how substantial the rooster is. The rooster tail of all boats is a visual reference point and it can make a wake look smaller or larger than what is really is.

The 210 wake looks pretty good to me in those shots. What's up with that rooster tail though?

I assume that is the new 07 210, and by looking at the wake I think it must be. Please confirm, and thank you very much for the comparisons.

**** we have so many compliactions these days. Where is the Hyrdogate set?

I'm assuming that the large rooster tail means that they are running a LOT of weight in that 210. I'll be curious to see if that's the case.

This is a phenomenal, helpful post. Thank you.
Only worry I have is - that sounds like a lot of ballast in that 236 to get that sort of wake out of her.

Were you able to weight it that heavily and still not see any sacs/bags in the open area of the boat?

            What a great post!!

I had heard that the 236 took a lot of weight - but then again, it is a BIG boat. The X-Star is approximately equivalent in length (I believe), and it also takes a lot of weight.

That 210 wake does look pretty good. Obviously not the same as the original, but not bad nonetheless. My '05 210 usually spits up a pretty good rooster tail also (especially when it is loaded more towards the rear).

              Oh yeah...and another thing...

I think one reason the previous 210's wake is so good is because the wake is so thick and it has a great table top. The pictures of the 210 above appear similar in that characteristic.

Pratt - You are correct on the wake being produced by the new 210. The hydrogate is really used as a perfomance enhancer. When the gate is down it gets the boat on plane faster, by providing more lift on the transom and decreasing bow rise. At wakeboarding speed the gate is moved into wakeboarding position. This decreases the lift on the transom and thus produces a larger wake.

MHays - I think there was a substantial amount of weight in the boat, but the rooster is even defined unweighted. The 210 in the pics had the EX330 and I drove it by hand through and maintianing speed or truning for double ups was easy, so it wasn't a crazy amount. The boat did amazing job of manuvering at low speed. When you turn around to pick up a rider the boat can turn tight enough that it does not go though its own waves.

Erik - I rode the 236 with 1,000#s less ballast and it was still huge IMO. I really liked the 236 with the long ramp and defined lip at the top.

882001 - The 4,000 lbs. setup on the 236 was full on pro level. The weight was spread evenly through the whole boat. It really sat level in the water and had minimal bow rise for a wake boat. I never lost sight of the horizon when I drove and I am short. If I was riding one I would not put that much weight in it, mostly because I don't do 9's off the wake. The 236 produces a great wake with little additional weight and would be awesome with an extra 1,000 lbs. Pair of side sacs in the back and 500 in the nose or locker. Just my opinion.

                        Later,

                        Mark D.

                          Good post, thanks MD.

I am not at all surprised by the amount of weight in the 236. I do think if you took 1500-2k out you would not notice a huge difference in size, but the firmness would change. All of these big boats take a lot of weight. The old 210 did not have that much glass in the water. I like all 3, and am ready to experiment with my 220 to get it perfect.
