I am looking to DIY carpet replacement for an 81 Ski Nautique. Would appreciate coaching on what/where to buy.

Plan on having a ton of patience!! You need to use a heat gun to soften up the glue to get it out. Try to do it in as big of pieces as you can so that you can cut the new carpet easier. You will need a water based glue to reapply the carpet but before that, you need to rough up the floor with a sander or something equivalent. The job is going to take a significant amount of time. Let me know if you need more help.

20 oz stuff is kinda cheap, but will sufice for a work horse type boat. 40 oz stuff might retain water and mold if you put her up wet and slap the cover on.
i would try to hit the middle of the road.
you can call these people and see if they have a pattern or make apattern from your existing carpet. ask for aquamat, if you want some pull out , rubber backed carpet. The company is R & R Textiles, Chatsworth GA 800-835-5920 or 706-695-1555red right return
