Ramlin Trailer questions

The folding tounge option sounds great but is it more trouble than it's worth? When it folds away all the wires, brake line, ect are being kinked or twisted each time. Will this create problems with extra wear and tear? Anyone with experience with this feature?
Are disc brakes a better option than drum for durability and longevity? They are both surge type actuators.
Are oil bath hubs better than greasable hubs? The trailer will only be used in fresh water. Thanks again

I have had both styles of folding tongues on Ram-Lin trailers. The older style is pictured below. The newer style swings to the side. Both have worked very well for me. I have never had any issues with wiring or brakes that were caused by the folding tongue.

The swinging away tounge works great. We have to use it every winter, and RamLin makes it so no wires are kinked or anything. I have never used the older style, but the newer swinging away style makes it so the max length of the trailer is the exact same as the boat, so its nice when you dont have much space. It looks like the older style, when folded up, still adds some length to the boat.

Disks are much better. They stop the boat better, much safer, end of story.

As noted above the cables and wires are designed to work with the swing away tongue, you should not have any issues there. Definitely go with disks, they stop better and maintenence should be easier as well, if a dual axle trailer get disks on both axles and it will stop very well on it's own. I have the oil bath hubs and they are supposed to be relatively maintenance free, have 2yrs use and about 4k on the trailer with no issues or leaks.

i have only seen 1 brake line that had a problem but for the amount of trailers ive seen with it i would not worry to much about it. it works well. if you need the extra room i would get it for sure. im kinda old school and do not like the oil bath trailer hubs but to each their own i just like beimg able to clean/inspect/service things quick and easy.
