SAN trivia: Who was the head of the design team?

I've always been curious who actually designed the SAN. (1995-2006 Super Sport hull.)

Anyone down at the factory know? I've always wondered, I'm curious what happened to them, whether they retired, or moved on to another boat company? I know the guy who was heading design for the x-star (non 205 hull.) also did work for cobalt. (thus the pickle fork design actually.)
    How about \"Chales\"?

    RIP Nikolai (\'05 SANTE) 5/23/05 - 4/30/06

Probably Bill Wates, head design engineer for CC. Could have been somebody else so, I'm only guessing.

i would like to know too. its an awesome looking boat. maybe he retired and took all of correct crafts good looks!!

personally the internet factory tours don't enough for me and even if i were to visit orlando i dont think that the actual tour would do enough either. Do they go anywhere near the r&d dept? marketing material about r&d is usually crap so it would be nice to see how and who actually designs their boats and how they do it.

Now you don't seriously think that they would just let anybody walk into their R&D area, would you? Yellow_Flash_Colorz:

Even if you work for CC, you'll find it hard to go into their R&D area. They like to keep things tight lipped. There isn't as much high tech/innovative stuff occurring the boating industry so, they have to try and keep anything they're doing from getting out.

Does its "roots" go back to the "Nautique Excel"? '93? ER

EarlyRiser, to some extent all of the 90's designed CC's had pretty heavy roots with the older 2001's. Actually if you look at a 2001 directly next to a SAN you notice that they are very similar in streak placement, depth of V etc.
