    Season Opener

Well, I officially kicked off my season tonight. It was great to be on the water again, winter is just too long! Water was a balmy 46.2 degrees, air temp was 65.3 degrees. Pretty comfortable actually, I was pleasantly surprised! Kind of windy, but we were still able to find some decent lines.

Overall it was a very successful season opener!

Definitely, water would be much too uncomfortable in a wetsuit right now.

Just curious...how cold does the water have to be for a wet suit to NOT work?

Pretty much personal preference. I prefer to be comfortable when I ride, so I use the dry suit until I'm comfortable in shorts or just a top.

One of the guys that road with us the last weekend of Oct. last season just wore his normal boardshorts and vest. He tore it up and claimed he was comfortable. (I don't see how!) Air temp was 37 don't remember what water temp was.

Regular shorts in October is nothing new with us. Anything past October definitely needs a drysuit though. My body doesn't get that cold, but my feet and hands get cold to the point where I can't move/feel them very well.

From my experience in water between 45 to 60 a wetsuit is ok. However, the older I get the farther into the season I wear my shorty!
