    I don't get it...

In response to the latest poll: I don't understand the concept of CC signing pro's from other sports to the CC "team." Does this follow the trend of other sports? I mean, is the Pro-Bull riding (PBR) going to sign Andy Mapple as a honorary PBR, and maybe give him a prize bull to ride in the off-season? :???:

I just don't get the connection.... Maybe someone can enlighten me, the confused!

    RE: I don

For whatever reason, motocross (and it's various forms) have been connected with wakeboarding. X-games, and Boardstock are two of the events that come to mind. Mastercraft has held its "reuinions" at motocross events. There has been some cross marketing with Nascar and snowboarding as well.

When you think about it, what does any athlete have to do with marketing of a product outside their sport. Yet, athletes are amongst the most prominent promotors of everthing from car dealerships to cheetos. BKH

      dont get it

..............wakeboarding and moto go hand in hand, lots of moto guys i know are equally into wakeboarding as well, it seems to me its been that way for a really long time. aswell moto is so huge and has such a huge fan base it makes total sense to have CC sponsoring pro moto guys............at the same time CC really doesnt have to advertise, everyone knows they make the sickest boats anyway!!!!! im sure ricky carmichael has lured many guys to buy CC with his sponsorship from the company and all he has is a small air sticker on his visor on his helmet........................

IMHO there is no connection or need to "sign" other athletes from non related sports. Will it help CC sell boats? Mayyyyyyybe, and that is a long shot.
        I don\'t care.

          RE: dont get it

I agree with half of your HO onthewater, there is no need but definatly a connection. I know that myself and a ton of my CC/boating/boarding/skiing/barefooting friends are on the water all summer and spend the winter months on bikes. We ride and watch motocross, every weekend Bubba is a top finisher or leaving it all on the track and putting on the show. He is the type of athlete you want connected to your brand.
Will it help sell boats? Who knows, but CC thinks so.
Wasnt Rafael Palmeiro (MLB) and Mark Martin and the #6 Car Pitching VIAGRA???

EXACTLY darrell, it just goes to show that everyone in the MLB does play with a "corked bat!"

Seriously, most of you have answered my question: "Probably" not going to sell more boats... It is interesting to me how there have been quite a few threads on concerns with QC-quality control in the WHOLE industry of ski/wakeboard boats. And I just find it interesting that a lot of manufacturer's are (maybe) spreading their concerns a bit thin to these outside areas?? Just a thought...

              RE: dont get it

I don't think the point is just to sell boats, but more to create buzz and spread the wealth about the sport... maybe get some motocross fans into wakeboarding, and vice versa... THEN maybe, just maybe, those new fans will EVENTUALLY buy something...

todda, I am not sure there is a link between too much emphasis on marketing across sport boundaries vs an emphasis upon QC. ER

connection---heck yes. every one of those pre teen/ teen kids is at the races with his or her dad. dad has all the money. bubba and ricky sell redbull to the kids and bikes, boats and all the other stuff to pops. There's also all those 30 something guys (like me) that do both sports, or are thinking about getting a boat, that go to the races. It's great marketing. Snowboarding, pro hockey, nascar -- its all good. Just dont send all those new nautique owners to my lake.
