    1970 Ski Nautique Wake

Was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas about what to expect with a 1970s era ski nautique wake. I would like to know how it compares to an 02 TE or the 89 2001. Any help? Is this boat worth buying? Thanks!

    Looks worth it to me!

From what I understand the wake is descent. I've never been in one though.

Are you asking about the wake behind a 70's era Ski Nautique, or the Marauder you linked to? They are 2 very different hulls. What wake are you interested in? Slalom? Barefoot? Wakeboarding? Tubing?

Wakeboarding and I like to go big. I'm not sure what kind of boat that is but I'm going to check it out this week. It's got a 426 Chrysler so I could weigh it down. Is that a Marauder because it's an inboard, I think?

Looks like a cool boat, clean for sure. If the maurader is anything like the barracuda I can tell you that there is not much of a wake at all. Maybe with a lot of weight but certainly not as is. Like I said though, it is a different boat so maybe the wake is cool, no SANTE or '89 though. You can probably get a '82 - '86 nautique for not too much more, might not be as purdy but at least it's a 2001.
How 'bout a little reverse action...

At wakeboarding speed the wake should be pretty big. It won't be as well shaped as the newer hulls but I don't think size will be a problem

Yeah, I'm going to check it out tomorrow and if it looks worthwhile I'll test it. I should just bite the bullet and get the 02 SAN TE. Bit of a difference.

That is a big swing from the 1970 Marauder to an 02 SANTE. I love the look of that big Chrysler. That boat appears to be really clean. Keep us posted on what you find out tomorrow.

Yeah, the swing is huge, but it's either pay for a boat in full or make payments; and I don't really want to make payments.

Checked out the boat yesterday and it's really nice. Someone is going to get a pretty sweet boat for a low price. The 426 started right up and sounded really powerful. It's a bigger boat than I thought it was as the gunwhale (sic) is pretty deep. Plenty of room for sacs and people. For me, it's just not the right time to buy a boat, but I will keep looking and if anyone you know is interested, this is a gem.
