came back from florida last weekend and was very happy to squeeze in a tour of the new location. i made arrangements for a certain time but due to complications i called and asked to be an hour late. thanks Dave Hendricks for your consideration, my friend and i found the tour informative and sensed a real appreciation for the nautique owner or any potential customer. keep an eye on the hulls in the future, the concept of male and female molds for fiberglass is eally cool. one thing i think PN could lobby for is the exclusive use of the second lake for those of us visiting florida. i tried to schedule some ski time at the OWC and O-Town for the saturday i arrived but they were booked, had to wait a few days. how about some kind of insured nationwide club for nautique owners and throw in some beach huts to boot?

RE: company tour
Second the props to Dave.
We dropped our son and friends at The Projects for the week and did not have an appointment at the factory. Dave took us in for a tour without notice and he was great. I wonder what that new mold will be spitting out? Thanks Dave.
On another note my kid phoned to say he was getting pulled by Byerly today. How cool is that for a 16 year old?Doug

RE: company tour
coolest. factory. ever...
best part is the missing garage door next to what clearly is a driveway.... budget i guess
I've got to give props to this Damian Carlson guy who gave the normal tour + some more info, as well as Gary Meloon who was more than happy to discuss ideas for a possible charity-oriented event/comp.
I cant wait to make it down there again for some events once they get that final lake's permits done with. however, i have to agree--it really is in the middle of nowhere...lol... the "neighborhood" consists of one other factory, a jail, and some railroad tracks...
Neither Damian nor Gary would comment on this, but my theory is that the "jail" isnt really a jail, and is really is just a maximum-security R&D department. My 1 goal was to find something, just one thing, that would hint at some future stuff that the public wasn't supposed to know about.. but i failed...only thing i saw was what looked like a "new" tower, but i could be mistaken
thanks again!

Skinautique: more on that comment, please. I just put order in for a 206 after researching the bejebuz out of the competition. Mastercraft was the nearest competitor, and they have the whole pickleboat thing down and obviously they're heavily into saltwater stuff...but for freshwater boats, their ski boats esp. seemed really dated. The prostar boats just didn't measure up, in my eyes. I was impressed by CC more than other boats.... How is CC 'losing it' in your opinion?

I met a factory guy at the mpls boat show in Jan and he invited me down for a tour and a chance to test drive the various boats at their lake...At the Mastercraft display, I had to beg to get a brochure from the salesman. I was just starting my searching then, so it didn't leave any lasting effect, but the guys at CC were more helpful than the guys at MC...at least at the boat show.

You made the right choice on the 206 over the MC. The boat is built way better and will ski better IMHO. I was talking more along the wakeboard boats and accessories line. I feel that MC has lost their core focus. They are trying to create too many different boats and they are not a niche builder anymore.
Hope that helps to clarify a bit. You will love the new 206!

Skinautique: That makes me feel better!
I have the latest MC catalog and they have a couple boats that are just drawings..sorta a 'coming soon' attraction. They have a big lineup, but their true inboard line is pretty dated. One of their new soon-to-be-here boats looks like its an attempt to counter the 216 or even the 206. Construction of MC didn't seem as good at least during a few hours of poking and prodding....

Just last week
I too did the tour, just last week during Spring Break! It was wonderul. Everyone should do this. In fact, if I were in the market for a new boat, one of the things would be to visit the factories of those that I would be considering (however there really is only one choice). These folks have it on the ball. Not only was I impressed at the plant but the longevity of the workers. These folks are dedicated to there craft and to this boat. I also continue to be impressed with the "personality" of the people from Correct Craft be it at this factory or my dealership. Positive, helpful, willing to do anything. I sure do wish other things were like this (car delerships, buying a home etc.) I knew in the beginning that I had made the right choice but having visited this facility I now realise just how true that statement is!!!
Thanks again to those folks in Florida!!!

RE: Just last week
I took the tour a couple of weeks ago and I have to agree that was a fantastic tour! All the staff that you ran into were just the friendliest people you could meet. What a great location they have there and excellent potential for expanding on down the road. The efficiency of the plant I thought was top notch! Great people & tour! I would highly recommend it if you can get down there!

RE: Just last week
That is one thing that I have always been impressed with too, the length of time that most of the workers have been there. That says a lot about a company when you have people stay there for the amount of time! I thought he said on the tour that the newest worker has still been there for three years. It is good to know, especially when my boat is being built! I really like how they have the assembly lines now, and the boat moves from person to person right down the line and that worker is specific to that model. Less chance to make mistakes!
