    Rankin Cover on a 206

I just picked up my 07 206 today...totally sweet! I ordered a Rankin Cover to go with it. It seems awesome, but I dont understand how to secure all of the straps on the back. Two of the tie downs (middle two) can attach to the grab rail, but I dont know where to put the outside two straps nor do I understand how hook up the rope deal across the transom. Help!

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. I will post pics real soon.

I haven't received mine yet, but my guess would be around the swim platform brackets??

RE: Rankin Cover on a 206

I spoke to Rankin a few weeks ago about these types of issues. For those of us who havent installed a Rankin before, it can be a little confusing. They told me that they are working on a set of instructions- as soon as they send them to me Ill forward them to everyone else.

Rankin told me I needed to drill holes and screw in the pegs that were supplied. I don't like this idea and will be looking for alternative ways to connect the straps when the boat comes out of storage (Mid-April).

Igkya, not sure who you are (screen name vs. real name) so remind me: which boat do you have? Do you have any pictures of the rear with the cover installed?

I was given the option to screw fasteners into the transom as well- no drilling for me either. I may have to get creative with fastening the cover to the platform or lifting rings.

I'm assuming it would attach something like this. Looks like you just need some of those white clips.

              Transom tie downs

              Hi all.

That is my 216 that Hollywood posted up here.

I specifically spoke with Rankin when I placed the order & told him that I did not want to drill any holes in the transom of my boat, so he added the additional padded hooks.

These are the same hooks that they use along the sides of the boat.

              Hope this is helpful!

              Thanks.

My cover is still in the box and boat is in storage...
How are the padded hooks on the back attached to the cover? Same as they are on the sides or do the back hooks only attach to the straps?

Igkya, I believe wetfoot's cover had the extra hooks sewn in as a special order.

If you let me know which boat you have, I can share some Ideas that Ive come up with to avoid drilling holes.

TR - I just spoke to Rankin and they say that they have an application that has some hooks that will attach to the swimplatform. They are sending me the hooks, so we will see how it works.

Hmmm... so you would have the same setup as wetfoot. Your set up is a little tougher than mine- Ill be able to use my lifting rings since theyre located down low. I would suggest getting creative by using the platform brackets and the grab handle to create a solid piece to strap to.

I would be curious what other options you have come up with. I have an 07 206.

I have the same issue. I was told I could screw the buttons into the rub rail. Maybe I can back the screws out in the rub rail and replace them with the ones provided with the buttons? Of course the straps don't reach to the rub rail!

I'm a little off thread, my boat is the 211.

                              Hello everyone!

Just wanted to clear up some confusion about the back straps. We have been receiving more comments and requests to not drill into the back of the boats which we completely understand! We have come up with a way to add hooks to the back straps ( like the 'J' Hooks on each side of the boat cover) It would look very similar to the picture that Hollywood posted. Of course the hooks would only be placed where there was not a grab handle or lift eye to attach around. Some boats will take more hooks than others.

For WilliamWallace, It looks like hooks would be beneficial in your case, If you are interested please contact the shop or email us and we can work that out with you! We want your cover to fit like it should!

If there is anyone else out there that already has a cover that would prefer the 'J' hooks instead of the black pegs, please email or call. Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_
