Thanks for people's help here. I've trolled a lot and got some good info from ya'll.

I just ordered a sweet looking 206. Old school: No tower, no radio, no keyless, no P. pass...but with a 5.7 and teak deck and a few other upgrades. Should look classic with blue and white and with a red pinstripe. People at Son watersports have been super helpful. (So were the guys at the mpls Mastercraft store -- gorgeous huge store, extremely informative, but the boats just didn't have the same feel or look of quality, and I wasn't thrilled by the MC batwing front). So, CC gets my money....

It's a big wad of cash, and my wife is a bit freaked, but I just calmly give her a hug and remind her that we only go around once in this life..... 8-) 8-)

This boat will fit in my garage and, hopefully last, oh, about fifty years or so when my great grandchildren can lower me into the ground with my corpse strapped into the drivers seat.

I live in Edina. I'll be skiing anywhere I can. THe 206 will be a trailer queen. I'm five minutes from Lake Bryant, which I had no idea existed (I've been moving all around the country for the last fifteen years and just moved to Edina last year). Nice looking water. My parents have a cabin in N. Wisconsin on a sweet lake but it's 3.5 hours there and I've got three kids with already busy schedules so that's only a few weekends a summer...

Any other good lakes in/near the west mpls metro area??? I grew up spoiled with a family cabin way way waaay up in N. Minnesota and the lake was basically empty all the time, with lots of coves. Just freezing water, all the time. And no wetsuits then...Memories of skiing as a 15 year old sitting in an aluminum boat soaking wet in 55 degree drizzle. My dad and brothers were all hard core -- it it wasn't windy and if there wasn't lightning hitting within a few hundred yards, we were skiing.

I was overrulled by wifey and kids....I actually voted for yellow and blue (I'm a good part Swedish and I loved the California lifeguard color look when I lived near the ocean: Yellow and a bit of blue)...but kids and spouse wanted blue. My second choice was Red White and Blue, Evil Knieval style, but my wife went, uh, nope.

I'm spending today telling friends and relatives we got it. They're freaked. We only owned cheap, old beater boats growing up...and I've never skied or even been in a real inboard ski boat. I've just lusted after them from afar. I've been dreaming of a real ski boat since I was a teenager.

Hey MN readers here: What are your favorite lakes for skiing?

I know,.....it's kinda like giving away a good fishing spot...but maybe if you can list your SECOND favorite places. I'm west metro/south metro mpls.

ps: called all the relatives and told em about the boat. My dad, who grew up with the notion that a big boat had 70 hp outboard and a really big boat had a 90 hp, just about choked when i told him it had 330 hp. He said, "Two thirty!?!" I said, "No, pa, THREE thirty." His response: "Oh, my."
