Review of 2001 SAN with 425 Big Block Engine

I have the opportunity to purchase a 2001 SAN with 425 HP Big block. Any thoughts about the boat or the effect of gas consumption with the 425 Hps?

The boat is loaded and in likwe new conditions. Only has 177 hours...should I be concerened.

    Thanks for any input.

RE: Review of 2001 SAN with 425 Big Block Engine

I have a 99 with the 502. The boat is incredible for boarding, surfing, etc. The difference in gas consumption is not enough to affect your decision. There was a thread the other day about why a 5.8 doesn't consume much more gas than a 5.0 because it is not working as hard. Same theory applies to the 502. Read this link:
    http://www.airnautique.com/502.cfm
I got my 99 in Aug 2005 with 135 hours on it. Perfect shape, no issues whatsoever.
What sort of price are you being offered ? I paid in the low 30's for mine.
Is this the one that was in NE a few months ago ? That boat is gorgeous.

RE: Review of 2001 SAN with 425 Big Block Engine

I bought one in November but haven't had a chance to get it out on the water yet due to the cold temps. But i did the same kind of research and those that had used the boat generally said that fuel consumption was pretty close to the standard engines. Plus, you will have a unique ride that sounds like a stock car when it goes by. Ask Wakeslayer to PM you the audio of his cruising by the dock, it's pretty cool!

Ditto....Wakeslayer is right.... that if it is the one at NE that boat is truely gorgous and well kept!!!
I dont think you would find one nicer with all of the xtra options that boat has for that kind of money.
Lack of proper planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
