    Trailering protection

    Hey folks,

I am going to be trailering an Air Nautique 2500 Miles across the country and want to try to protect the front end from road debris. In the past I have seen what looks like a "bra" but cant find anything like it. Any suggestions?

a 'bra' would beat the boat to death in 2500 miles. imho. look at some of the autox or porche sites. they make a thick, clear protective film for auto crossers that would work for you.

i would just put a wide mud flap across the back of your tow machine and pledge the front of the boat. make those bugs slide when they hit.

masking tape will also work, i suggest getting the widest rolls you can. this will also probably be the cheapest method for your one-time use.

i would recommend the grass skirt or wide mud flap as tryan mentions - make sure it goes the entire width of your tow vehicle.

have you considered having it shrink-wrapped? 2500 is alot of miles (even for us Canadians!)

I would shrink wrap the boat definately. If you are going to use tape, don't put it over any of the pinstripe. You will pull the pinstripe off when you take the tape off. Also, tape might get messier than you want it to with all of the glue on the back side. I would say shrinkwrap it to the waterline.

I've never had masking tape glue come off on anything. Also, I doubt the glue is even strong enough to pull of pinstriping. I also agree that shrink wrapping would be the best though.

3M makes films that are static attached. Perfect for temporary protection.

This is what I use, just make sure that it doesn't drag on the road, or you'll pick up and through rock into your boat. The great thing is that you can remove them by taking out the hitch when you don't want them (they look dumb when a boat isn't attached).
