    electric hatch, battery dead

I haven't even looked at it, but just thought of this... if I have an electric hatch on the 2000 SAN and the battery dies... isn't the battery under the hatch or is it somewhere else that is accessible?

It's under the hatch. There have been several threads on this in the past when someone's battery died. Do a search and you should be able to get more information.

The rear seat back lifts out on the 1995-2000 super sports giving you access to the battery on the starboard side. On my 1995 the sound panels behind the seat were a bit difficult to move though.

In my many times of having a dead battery, I can confirm you lift out he back seat (be careful there is a bracket holding in place) then you probably have a wood backer you will slide to the side to give you accress. It's not easy, you still have to get under the back and undo the battery and either lift it out or run the charger into it.

If I'm not mistaken, is'nt there a manual release strap...

I had the twin to your boat, and had chronic battery issues. When the battery goes dead, lift out the back seat, slide the starboard sound panel over, undo the battery cover, and attach your charger or jumper cables. If I was going to lay the boat up for any amount of time (> 1week), I would simply attach charger cables prior to closing the hatch. Installing a battery isolation switch helped also, and is a pretty simple job.

There is no manual release strap.

yeah, sounds like the isolation switch is what i need. I did access the battery today, thanks for all the help!
