Hey guys, im new to the wakeboarding world and I finally convinced my parents to buy a boat. However, they dont want an extreme wakeboaring boat, but they want kind of a crusier/wakeboarding boat that the whole family can use. I live in Texas so I will be able to use it alot and I've been looking at the nautique boats with interests. Any sugesstions

RE: All around Boat
Suggestions as to what? Go demo and check out the boats to see of they will fit your "cruiser" need. None of the Nautiques are particularly large, the biggest being the new 236. Definitely go check them out, and other brands as well.
As a beginner don't worry about having the biggest and best, you don't need a huge wake to learn on, as a matter of fact, most people would be better off learning on a small wake. How about \"Chales\"?

RE: All around Boat
Where in Texas will the boat be used primarily?
The type and size of the boat i would recommend will highly depend on what lake it will be used on.
If on Travis, I would suggest a 23-25 foot boat.
If on a smaller lake, then between 19-21 foot boat.
If a private lake, then between 16-20 foot boat.
Also what your parrents want to do with it will also be a consideration. If they want to cruise on a large lake, then an I/O would be better since it can be trimmed to deal with the rough water better and it can also be beached a lot easier.
I love my inboard, but it is not the best boat for some family type recreation. I live with the shortcommings because I love the benifits. Also, since the prop is way up under the boat it is much safer than a boat with the prop out back. It also means the prop can be damaged a lot easier, and mine has been damaged a numer of times because of that. Just beaching the boat is enough to ruin a prop. I have done that twice now.
