'91 CC Ski Excel, V-Drive, Closed Bow

The boat is a '91 CC Ski Excel, V-drive, 350 PCM, with a closed bow. I have only had this boat a little over a month and it seems that every time I run into another CC owner they have the same remark, "I did not know that boat came with a closed bow". And I have no reply as to why it is this way so I am trying to gain a little history if anyone has any to share. Being the second owner and having a previous owner that had no light to shed on the subject I find myself searching for answers.

Is it crazy to want to know every detail about your vessel?!?!
