I had an old lift the shaft broke and the boat came down 3 feet- It was scarry. Shortened the shaft and have had no problems. I have a 2003 210 SAN with 1000 extra pounds in the bow. If I am at the boat house I only lift it partially out of the water so there is only 1000lbs on the lift. I would take the chance as everyone has insurance.

Yes, I was cranking it up and luckily the only one on the dock. the boat crashed down and stayed in the same spot, hardly drifted at all. I might have screamed like a little girl when the boat crashed into the water, but no one was there to verify...
