    97 SSN parts not available???

Does anyone else besides me find it unusual that you can find parts for a '77 Pinto but not a 97 nautique?

Let me start w/ an example of a friend of mines boat. Hes got a '83 Ski Nautique. He often complains on how hard it is to find replacement parts for his boat. I had a'81 and also found it difficult to replace things. Ebay and some forums here and there but really nothing you can just call correct craft on and say "hey, I need a... seat bracket" or whatever and easily get one. Well now Im finding myself in that same "hard to get parts" situation... again!!!

I currently own a 97 Super Sport that I have converted to a Super Air and working on my own definition of a "Team edition". Just last week I installed a new steering cable in the boat and was told by Southeast Correct Craft that the narrow rack cable, mid 97 and prior, will soon be no longer available and the next time I change my cable I will probably have to change out my helm and go to the wider rack system. I thought, well, that kinda stinks but oh well, no big deal. So my next small project is to replace the dash panels, ignition and stereo plates, as mine have become cracked and broken in the corners (ignition panel) and when I hit a double up the panel breaks loose from the 4 screws holding it and it hangs out of the dash. So I call Southeast and find that these are no longer available through correct craft. WHAT? So Ive read a lot of good on here about WhiteLake, so I gave Richard a call. He found the same thing, "No longer available." But he said he sometimes gets complete dashes that he can part out so keep trying him and eventually, hopefully, he will have one.

I think it sucks that correct craft doesnt keep parts in production for thier older boats. Im not asking for every part, but at least some would be nice. Like the parts that would be difficult to reproduce. Its not like my boat is that old. Im sure my hull will last a life time, but what about the rest of it. Not all of us can afford to upgrade to the next best thing. Heck, I can barely afford what Ive got. Is this what correct craft is? How ticked off are you all with boats that are 2 or 3 years old going to be in a couple more years when you cannot find replacement parts for yours. Its frustrating. So, Ive got a kick a$$ boat that I cannot maintain through the dealer. Basically, its already a "Ski Antique". Are all tournament boat manufacturers like this?

Well, my idea is to make new plates out of Aluminum, unless anyone knows where I can find originals. I was thinking of making the new plates and engraving the wording back on to it, ignition, blower etc. Then anodize it black and put paint into the engraved letters. Probably white or light tan. My hull is the light and dark tan w/ burgundy stripe.

For my next project, I wanted to replace my windshield gasket. I do not think Im even going to call the dealer on that one and just go to Ace hardware, save myself the frustration and see what I can find...

    Thanks for letting me vent!

did you guys have any luck finding them? My stereo got ripped off last week and I need to find a replacement panel cause they took the whole thing. I am going to check a couple of places around here and then I guess I will have to try to make one.

I was able to order a replacement plastic panel for the ignition side for my '94 SN last November/December. Same problem - it was cracked in the corners then was falling out when hitting bumps.

I bought the panel through West Coast Correct Craft [(916) 638-3382] , but they ordered it through CC in Orlando I believe. Sounds like these are now hard to come by - maybe I just got lucky?

Not at all. There were over 3 million Ford Pintos produced. There were less than 10,000 Super Sport/Super Air Nautiques produced.
As with most things, it is strictly business. BKH
