    Ballast install

I am wanting to do my own ballast install and was wondering about the through hull fittings on the bottom. Are they the mushroom type that are 1" thru hull? I was looking at West Marine site and they have lot's of stuff, but want to order the correct thing. Any help would be appreciated.

    RE: Ballast install

I got a 1-1/4 inch strainer. I used 1 in my SS for the entire system. I had an 82 that I used two, 1 inch, strainers. They work great and you can fill on the fly. All of them I installed a bronze ball valve immediatley after, just incase anything broke I could shut the entire system down.

I plan to have three three way switches, so do I power to one and jumper the rest? Power off an accessory switch?

By 3 way Im assuming you are installing 3, on-off-on switches. Yes, you can power one and jump to the other two. And also yes, thats how I did mine by using an empty acces. switch. Although you could pull power from elswhere if you wish. Just make sure you add an inline fuse if you pull separate power.

That's what I thought! I have three, 3-way switches and planned to run power from accessory to switch one and jumper to switch two, then to switch three. Thanks!

Nice looking boat! I got pumps in today, but wrong size pickups. I will post some pictures after.

                    ballast instal

If you want info on doing your own ballast you should DEFINATELY contact DAVE210 (who has been banned from PN for some questionable photos involving a tow pylon).

However, his email is airtiques97@yahoo.com I just saw a better than factory install he just did on his 97 Super Air.
