2007 236 Cooler-Options

I just spent the first weekend with my new 2007 236T... I love it. The only disappointment is the cooler behind the driver seat. I was hoping to find a more insulated version so I am not always having to fill it with ice each evening and won't have to empty it. Looking on line all of the 5-6 day coolers are too big.

I know this sounds picky but when you have to go several hundred yards carrying coolers, I would love to just find a better solution.

The rear cooler is great for that day on the water but has no insulation whatsoever and I have to empty it regardless.

Seeing there are more and more 236s hitting the waterways I thought someone may have a better solution.

I have enjoyed all the dialog about the 236 because it convinced me to go for the big boat. Love the space and love the performance.

Have you found a better solution yet? What size is the cooler do you have now? Nautique states its a 50quart cooler but igloo only makes 36qu, 48qu and then 54 quart coolers. I seem think that the cooler that comes with the boat is actually a 36quart cooler. Could someone check the 236 cooler and let me know.

I am looking to add another cooler so I can bring one home with me for the next day out on the lake.

Well, you're right. The big cooler that comes in the 236 is a 36 quart cooler, not 50 quart.

If you find a better solution let me know. I find that this cooler loses the ice overnight and the cooler in the back only holds the ice for about half the day if it is real hot.

Now that Jeff confirmed it is indeed a 36quart cooler they are 24.25"L X 13.50"W X 13"H

On Igloo's site they have the Sportsmans 48 Model(ugly green color) which shows to be L25.38" x W14.75" x H14.75" so its a bit bigger but may fit in the cooler space on the 236(not sure) This particular model shows to be a 5 day cooler. You might measure the cooler space in the 236 and see if it would fit.

I too have the soft sided cooler and they hold the ice for longer then any other cooler I have used. They also are great on the boat since they don't scratch your fibreglass or hurt your toes when you bang into them.

I started using an Engle here in Arizona in my 210! Nothing better than ice cream on the boat in the afternoon!

No more ice for me! It's expensive but it will last forever, it's built like a tank!

This may or may not solve your problems but in the food business when you keep something cold you ALWAYS use dry ice. Nothing better, it will last for days! Just make sure you don't directly touch it and keep it away from items you don't want to freeze. But, use it in combonation with some ice and you shouldn't have a problem. The issues really come to be when you always open and close it. What's the first thing they tell you to do when there's a power outage, keep your fridge door closed and only go in when you really need something. It should run around $5 a lb and may take you a bit of time to locate it at a store. Some places are very strict with it, they control it beacause it's used in the drug trade as well.....

cooler upgrade!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the same dissapointment with my outings with the stock cooler, I found at our local Dick's sporting goods that igloo makes a double insulated version of that cooler. It appears the same from the outside, but the inside is smaller. However, we have found that it stays colder allowing us to replenish the cooler as we go with refreshing kool-aid Yellow_Flash_Colorz: and the cooler is still full of ice the next day allowing that kool-aid to stay cold until i get there on Sunday when they don't sell kool-aid until noon!

I have a soft side cooler from American-Outdoors too. Best ice chest ive ever had. Stays cold, no scrape marks from sliding over the gunnels or banging into seats. I think mine is the "48 Pack", its huge.
