Hi Ryan,
Haven't spoken in a while. I am out - my house for sale - www.9904harbor.com - this weekend. If you are sure about the 196, take a look for mine, it should be in production mode somewhere. Due by mid June. If you like the colors, I will trade you my house for the boat. If you can find a buyer, I will let you keep the house and the boat. I would take $1.2-1.3. Full waterfront just for you and the family.
I will give you my observations after putting about 12 Hrs on my 07 220. I have not driven a 07 210 so my answers may be suspect, but I have owned 5 210's as a member of the CC Promo Team.
The 220 is an attempt to offer more room and a smoother ride to appeal to families or people that ride with a lot of friends. The 210 is a pure wakeboard boat that received a lot of upgrades in 07 as far as seating and interior room, it is actually a few inches wider that the 220. If you are a hard core wakeboarder or wish to be one I would go with the 210. If you want a little more room, put a lot of people in the boat, or spend time on rough water and don,t mind a little compromise in wake then the 220 is your boat. I have the ZR 6 engine and have not observed a big difference in fuel consumption and I definitely reccomend it for the 220.
My son used to compete and is now and old man of 27 with a real job and only gets to ride 10 or 15 times a year. He landed all of his stuff behind the 220 and said he liked the wake although it wasn,t quite as good as a 210. I am an old school waterskier and have not yet got a handle on the 220 wake for waterskiing, it is a bit more challenging than the 210 wake but at 58 I am not as good as I used to be either. I think I just need to find the right combination of gate position and rope length.
All in all I really like the 220 and will get another one for next year if the CC folks say I can, but they may want me to get a 210 which I wouldn't mind because I would like to try out the new design.
I will end by saying that the move to the new factory is obvious in the quality and fit and finish of the boat after owning 8 Nautiques this is by far the best boat so far.
